RomRaider and OBDII cars

Has anyone tinkered around with the maps for the OBDII cars using RomRaider? The possibilities look really promising but the SVX isn't listed in their list of "supported ECUs" and I'm a bit of a noob at this. Part of this stems from being frustrated I can't put the ECUtune chips in my car with it's superior OBD-ness. Are there other options available for the newer cars?

I don't think the chips in our ECUs can be re-programmed. They need to be swapped out with new chips.

That would explain why all of my searches have come up dry. Is it just that the chips used are a one-time write EPROM? Has anyone investigated populating a different chip (along those lines, is enough known about the current chip to find a replacement)?

Yea the programmable ECU didn't show up in Subaru's until the US model year 2002 (JDM 2001). Before that the ECU is not much different than the OBD1 cars, just with a few more sensors to cause headaches.
