Shouldn't need these either.
I know of no instance where these were used.

There is enough wire to run from the ballasts to the fog lights without an extra harness. My fog light ballasts are mounted inside the engine compartment away from the engine (towards the front).

One is mounted flat by the A/C evaporator tank, the other by the battery.

Maybe someone who has installed the DDM units can comment.

I was reading through this forum and have a question about how you can make your fog lights work without having your regular headlights on. Is it because you have an HID kit installed that they can stand alone? I have always wanted to do this on my SVX.

Thanks

You could buy a Canadian SVX. Our fog lights are always on without the regular lights. The are used as the mandatory daytime running lights. They only turn off when you put your regular lights on. In this case you can then manually turn them back on with the switch.

I am sure svxcess will explain when he sees this thread again. Good luck.

Re: 9005 headlight upgrade question

Or you could use HIR bulbs. More usable light, not just more blue light. Very easy to fit because they pop right into the existing housing after a bit of filing, which took me maybe 5 minutes. I got mine from rallylights.com - they mark the area that needs to be filed off so it's drop-dead easy. I've had a pair in my STi since 2005 and they're still going. I put HIRs in the low and high beams in the SVX.

Re: 9005 headlight upgrade question

I have the 55w ddm tuning installed. I quit using my foglights when I did the low beam hid kit since there was very little difference in lighting.
Ive been flashed once and that was right after the install when I still ran with fogs out of habit.
I believe I have a link in my signature with the thread I used for install.
I would like to learn the ways of daytime fog

+1 have been using HIRs in both of mine for about a year, and they work great. Plenty brighter, stock look, and none of the PITA or engine bay clutter of the HIDs.
