If I had the money, I'd buy that engine back from you, but buying other SVXi takes my money. I need to sell a couple

Funny that this came up. I was just thinking that buying and rebuilding/modifying an engine would be a great winter project for myself and the kids. I was looking on a junkyard site yesterday and saw that they were selling engines and it got my wheels turning in my head. I don't mind buying or borrowing the tools needed and I have a friend who races and rebuilds engines all the time so I have his guidance. The thing is, without installing it in a car, is there a way to test the engine to see if it runs after we are done with it? I was thinking of changing the cams and pistons and doing whatever mods can be done to boost HP, just for fun, short of a turbo/supercharger mod. I suppose I would also be replacing the blown head gasket so that is a bonus. You know, because they are all a ticking time bomb.

Hey Tom, do you have a set of 740 injectors to go with that ECU, or is it just the ECU? If you still have it, I might could take it off your hands.

Re: Engine, Race wheels&tires, and suspension comp

Well, if you're still looking to give the ECU a new home, I MAY be interested. I just can't see myself ever moving enough air to use that large of an injector. I would be aiming for maybe 250 whp.

However, with a setup like that, I'd always have room to grow... *scratches beard*

Re: Engine, Race wheels&tires, and suspension comp

Tom,

No attitude intended. Sorry for the facetious comment. I am serious about taking on an engine project. You are the expert. Is this something that can be done in a home garage or am I delusional?

Re: Engine, Race wheels&tires, and suspension comp

It can be done with patience and some ingenuity. Also requires a lot of experience and contact information, as there are no parts you are getting from Jegs.

Tom,
Looks like the Pearlie is suffering from HG issues, so call me about what we can do with the engine.

Hey Bill, are you still wanting that swaybar with the chips in the powdercoating? I'll make you a good deal on it...

Tom,
Perhaps purchasing some of your time for an SVX transplant in scenic southern Maryland?

Nevin,
I'm so sorry, this totally fell off of my radar with the oldest going off to college and other "stuff" going on. Drop me a PM (I'm still interested in another set of end links).
