Please Help Speedometer Accuracy

When the transmission assembly is swapped from a legacy with 4.444 gears into a svx with 3.54 gears, is the speedometer accurate, and if so what component swap makes it so.

Iirc, use the SVX's stock speed sensor and tire diameter, and you should be good to go, as the speed is taken from the front axle's rotation and at no point before that.

Thanks for the replies, I apreciate the correct information. I also agree that the speedometer will be correct.

Now I am wondering how this affects the application of the transfer clutch, since the speed of the rear end is taken prior to the reduction in the gears.

As long as the tires are the same actual size front to back your transfer clutches will be fine.
Note;
Once again, the speedometer will read 5.5% higher than actual vehicle speed due to the disparity of tire sizes between the doner cars tire size, and the SVX's tire size.s

Re: Please Help Speedometer Accuracy

I thought the Legacy (not Outback), Impreza, and SVX shared the same diameter (barring very modern 17s and very ancient 14s)?

Rob, most 4.44 swaps use the trans from a 96-early 1998 legacy Outback that came with a 205/70/15 tire that is 26.30" tall.
The 225/50/16 tire that the SVX uses is 24.86" tall.
