Clashes too much with the interior I think.

Aside from that, your stereo trim ring is missing. Did it not fit back on?

Re: Looking for Opinions on Audio Options.

I didn't remember if it was there or not, because the previous owner (shop that does all my work) had a stock WRX double-din in there. If so, I can simply grab it out of the second SVX parked in my driveway, which is destined to become a motorsports vehicle (auto-x, open road racing, track day car, etc.).

Re: Looking for Opinions on Audio Options.

Update:

I had the stereo shop install a bluetooth kit for the upcoming "hands free" law coming into effect on July 1st here in California. The system didn't work, and nothing about my H/U worked after I left the shop. I'm so over that particular Alpine product.

Yesterday, I just jumped in and had them upgrade me to the one unit that I know works. IVA-W205 with Blackbird Navi/Bluetooth. I slide into the car, my phone automatically pairs and syncs to my phone. It's a wonderful thing, and it compares right up there with the unit I have in our 2004 Forester XT.

Again, I do NOT want to deal with buying an amp, etc. The point has been missed entirely. The headunit is going to be a gift from someone and they asked me what brand/ model I wanted.

I posted this thread with the intent of collecting ideas of some specific successful setups (basic head units) that people are running in their SVX, so that I might have some ideas on other models to look into.

Well I have this Pioneer Premier unit in mine as it will play mp3, wma, etc...
It has aux input for mp3 players as well, but I mainly bought it just to play burned mp3 discs. It works well and would recommend it.
The center knob is chrome though.
