Spotted Oranged Speaker Covers

My speaker covers on the door have oranged in parts. Like its warnor yellowed. I can't clean it off. Does anybody else have that problem? and how would I fix it?

I have that also and I think its rust too. I was thinking of painting them black.

I didn't have rust but several years ago I painted all 6 speaker covers black (the right way, taking them apart so I didn't spray the speakers) as well as several other "accent pieces" like the two vents at the top of each door, the trim around the door locks, the little piece under the parking brake lever, rear ashtray, etc. It provides a nice accent on the gray interior and doesn't look ricey IMO. The gray is pretty dark so at some angles or light levels you can't see the difference, other times you can.

I think the same would look great on the beige interior where it would really stand out. This is the look the original prototype had with it's even lighter interior.

Yeah, thanks Troy.

I was just admiring them today in John Hoffman's locker. What struck me most is the interior trim is almost exactly like the finished article, except for the coffee and cream colour scheme.

The other notable thing is the soft and fluffy leather seat bases. It is almost exactly like the shape of the seats we know, with the exception of the ruched soft leather.

I figure the seats we ended up with are more durable, if you got the SVX to buy with these soft seats, they would wear badly and be a customer relations nightmare.

These type of soft and fluffy leather seats are often on show cars but never see production. I reckon they are used so that prospective test candidates like influential journalists fall in love with the interior, and give the car the glowing write-up they are looking for.

It's about time these marketing gangsters stopped milking us for fools and show the cars with road ready seats. Nobody is fooled any more, wake up and smell the coffee.

Check out the radio/aircon area, and the sunken gearshift, and the passenger airbag. At first glance, I see an SVX interior, but the more I look at it, the more things I see that aren't quite "right".

But my point is that it is actually so close to what we know. Small differences for sure, but very close to production.

Also, on prototypes, some of the parts of the car are mock-ups. The parts could be just foam or wood and not be attached like a production car would be.

Also, you have to remember, show cars are built in a HURRY. Sometimes in a matter of a month or so. If you look closely, you can see that some parts don't fit very well. Look at the trim panel under the steering column, and the joint between the dash, and console. They just don't fit as well as the production parts.
