Roll is your enemy... if your sidewall roll over, you are sucking eggs. That why a shorter tire will help eliminate the roll and flop. Wider tires increade your patch area which is a good thing unless you are road racing where they become obtrusive.

And we can be sure to let you know when a diff burns out due to that set up. Your sidewall diameter is different, in the front you would have a diam. of 112.75 and in the diam in the rear would be 110.25. Your rotational circumference would be 1964.07 in the front and 1948.37 in the rear. That is all in millimeters too btw. Run that set up and you will be having Tom do a lot more work on your car on short order. You are WAYYYYY to hung up on tires and wheels. Every post ends up with you on tire size and front end weight over the tires. How the SVX has the same weight over the front as a DB9, etc, etc, etc... The wheel/tire topic has been hashed over and over on here many times. Auto-x an svx and then start making recommendations.

Lightbulb Lol!

you're talkin 2.5mm here! talk about hung up. you'll get that with 40 psi front and 29 rear. i never mentioned the db9 and i did say you could shave them, now we know 2.5mm needs to come off. there really is nothing special about the svx. do you really think 235/35-19 are exactly the same as the 295/30-19 or the optional 305/30-19s on the 911 turbo? the fastes svx here is using 275/45-16. pay attention.

Jim, I did some SCCA rules review last night. Changing the transmission puts you in Street Modified. Lots of leeway for modifications in SM. Have fun!

Yea, in my looking around last night I came to that conclusion also.
It is my daily driver so I wont be competitive in that class... but it doesnt mean I cant have a boat load of fun there.
Many thanks for checking that out.

It appears to me that the US model SVX is set up primarily as a front-wheel drive car, with an electrically activated rear drive.

I say front-wheel drive in the sense that rear torque split is from 50% down to the rear wheels, so the front wheels do most of the pulling and the chassis is set up to deal with this fact.

It may improve handling a good deal to use the JDM/Euro/Oz transmission. Subaru calls this the VTD-AWD System, it is fitted to pre-98 twin turbo Legacys and to the SVX[Euro and Japan type]

Anyone serious about Auto-X and needing to negate the understeer might do well to try and fit one of these boxes.

The Verion L I have in England is now supercharged, plus it has the factory active rear steering, which comes with a faster steering rack. It would be interesting to run this car against a standard [or modified] US car on an Auto-X course, to see if the chassis, rear steering and handling would knock off a few seconds.

No problem Jim. Yeah, SM around here is populated with 450hp Evo's on racing slicks with gutted interiors transported on trailers.

Joe-I agree, can you arrange shipment of the car to the states for a full-on evaluation by all of us here

Next summer I am planning on the 5 speed swap... which will give me the 50/50 split and should improve my handling characteristics.

2.5mm of DIAMETER PER SIDEWALL. That gives you a difference in rolling circumference of +24.30mm in the rear. That is just shy of an inch more. Yes you can shave, but if you dont happy fried diffs to you.

And you keep bringing up other cars on here too for comparison. The SVX is not a 911 Turbo, Aston Martin, Ferrari, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc.
