Questions on 93's

Theres a guy on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Subar...spagenameZWDVW ............. claiming that there was 83 25th ae. And that his 93 is a LSI There where 301. Right?
Another thing, cars101.com said there where 3,859 SVX's in 93 with 301 ae's. THE ONLY 93'S I SAW WHERE RED 25TH AE'S. Was there any other colors? Whats the deal?

SVXs "sold" in a calendar year does not equate to "year models imported" in the same calendar year. In calendar year 1993 there were '92, '93 AND '94 year-models "sold" in the USA (the '94's being very late in the year). There were many more '92 model SVXs "sold" in 1993 than actual '93 models. ALL of the 1993 SVXs imported into the USA were 25th Anniversary Models, red in color with tan leather interiors. Not all of these were sold during the 1993 calendar year. I can remember seeing two new, untitled '93s on a dealer lot in Houston in 1995. They were expensive, fully equipped cars; very slow-sellers. Folks opted to buy left-over '92s at drastically discounted prices rather than pay the full sticker price for the '93s since they were virtually the same car. When the 1994 models came along you could buy a '94 cheaper than the left-over '93s so again they sat, unsold. Although all '93 models imported into the USA were the same, this is not true for all SVXs produced by FHI in 1993. In other markets the '93 models were various colors and had various levels of trim. Best wishes.

According to SVX.com there were approximatly 600 25th anniversary editions. **EDIT** He hasn't answered an email that I sent him but he did edit his text to say that it's 1 of 301.

I sent him an email as well about only 301 being produced. If you are speaking about cars101.com, that information is not correct. We have the information of 301 being produced from Subaru.

Other 93s not 25th AE were usually two tone cars like the 92s as well.

Hahaha. You guys read his description?? Among the gems, this was my favorite... "Make no mistake about it, this is not just your ordinary SVX that you see around, this one is the most rarest ever."

Should ask him just how many he sees around all the time...

8k for a 115k SVX, albeit above average condition and 25th ann edition? Anyone else think that's much too high, especially for a starting bid?

Earl, when you say "other" you are referring to "other-than-USA" cars, are you not?

Yes, I guess I didn't say that very clearly. The other 93s produced for other than the US were 2 tone except for the green and ebony colors.

I think that is in the right area of price. SVXs are in the process of going up in value. I have seen and know of a three lower mileage cars going for, or over $10,000 in the last couple months. A 93 with 50K just went for $10,300 a couple weeks ago. Remember that only 301 - 93s were produced and there are not that many now.

Earl, I've noticed the same trend, prices creeping upward for really nice, low mileage SVXs. Proof that there are not that many around these days. Even though they are not bringing much of a premium just yet, the '93 models may become the cream of SVX collectibles. A case might be made for the '92 liquid silver to bring a premium since it was only made in one model year, but that is a USA-only thing as there were silver cars made for other markets in various years. I would like to see the SVX become a popular collectible car, if only in one variation. It deserves that recognition.

Yes Preston. It does deserve that. I have seen the price on other good ones going up as well. It seems that the higher mileage 92s are not gaining much because generally they do have lots of miles on them. If they have 100K or so, they tend to be worth more. Time will tell.

I suppose its low mileage for the age, but I still have trouble justifying 115k as "low" mileage, and even more so, spending 8k on a car with over 100k miles. My 94 has 116k, and its definatley no spring chicken... Though I love her dearly.
