Question New Subaru Sporty Coupe?

Last Saturday (7/15/06) Rosie and I stopped in at Matt Slap Subaru in Newark, DE; on the way home from her friend's jewelry store (It's wedding anniversary time, so there goes my Ferrari...but that's a story for another time).
MAtt Slap Subaru was running a promotion and had cars from ICY Racing in their lot. ICY Racing is based in Phoenixville, PA; and runs Subies in SCCA competition. I was driving SUBYDOO ('97 SVX) and parked it by ICY's WRX. Dave Rosenblum, one of ICY's driver's came over and chatted. He loved our SVX and said it was 'really mint'. I told him about the SVX World Network and how SVX enthusiasts wanted SUbaru to come out with another sporty coupe like the recent Pro-Drive show car. He said, "Wait until 2009-2010, and that's all I'll say(direct quote)." I hope he actually knows something and was not just placating me.
If someone here, actually knows anything about this, please post it.
Earl and I need time to get our money lined up so we can be the first kids on the block to get one.

PS: Ben (who own's the jewelry store) has a brand new Outback XT wagon...5 speed. He loves it, but hates Matt Slap Subaru service. They've already screwed things up for him. I told him to go to Rafferty. He also has an old RX-7. He likes the handling of the OB alot. I told him to wait until it snows hard.

Subaru seems to either tell their racing partners a lot, or those partners are just in a position to 'hear things.' When I lived in Vermont, and when they did full service, I took my car to Vermont Sportscar. At the time this company was building Group N rally cars for SCCA Pro Rally, and eventually they started running Subaru's factory effort here in the US.

Anyway, Lance told me back then, in 2000, that we were 'getting a turbo' in the US. Little did he know, of course, that 'the turbo' (aka WRX) would be so popular Subaru would start fitting one to practically everything.

I've heard something similar at a local subaru dealership here. He told me that there had been some talk of a coupe coming soon. He tossed the letters SVX at me too. I'll just sit back and wait and see though.

I saw this listed as SVX on a parts site a few weeks back ...

Maybe when we see SVX as a trim for legacy when looking up parts it isn't a typo?!?!?

Either;
A. It is the punchline to the joke, Q"Why is 6 afraid of 7?"... A"Because 7 8 9"
or
B. He was trying to fill in for the 10 character minimum reply.

Larry! is 6, then 7,8,9, and 10. The minimum for a post.

I'd rather see a dedicated platform, and not a Legacy coupe.

It looks like an artist rendering. Look at the wheels, and the black roof.

The back seat looks odd too.

I was talking to the manager at the local Subi/Acura dealer and he was saying that they heard they were making a newer coupe as well... I quote this from him..."those guys at Subaru had it right when they made the SVX, then they made the WRX and the STi's and things are great, however they are starting to realize they are missing a fairly large segment. Supposedly they are making a new coupe for the 09 model year. So Subaru has it right, now to get Acura to remake the NSX again." then we talked about my car for a while, and then we went and were talking about the new STI... BTW, I want those new seats in my car.

great news then

this is the best news I've been waiting for. I saw a B11S concept car at a motor show and absolutley loved it, way better compared to a 350Z also on show. But for 2008/9 , thats 11 or 12 years with no coupe, thats a long time between drinks?
Was there a particular reason the SVX was not a real success ? (in production No's) - the XT was close to 100,000 made and the SVX struggled to 25,000
