Drivers side window wont go down
I put my drivers side window down as I left my house, and heard what sounded like a loud clunk, and possibly scraping glass. As I got to the post office, I put my window back up, heard a horrible scraping noise, and as it got to the top, another clunk. I went inside, and when I got back out, my window doesnt go down anymore. You can hear the regulator going, and the window switch is new, so what is causing this? I have heard some people mention the window clip breaking (after 14 years, no surprise), but what part number is it, and how much? Thnak God it broke with the window up at least.

When my window stopped working it was due to a old broken cable in the regulator, bought a new one on ebay and popped it in, and it has worked fine, except for the slight wind whistle I get now
Take the door panel off and have a look. |

There's a plastic piece that holds the cable to the window. It's referred to as a Sleeve Lock. Search here and you'll get the part number.

I did a search and found part number 62101PA081. I also opened up my door, and found the sleeve lock regualtor broken, so that is definetly the part I need (I saw a picture from someones write-up). However, neither subaruparts.com or my local dealership recognize this as a part number. I tried 1stsubaruparts.com and they did have it, except that they wanted to charge $10 shipping for a little plastic piece that weighs nothing, plus the full price of the part, which is another $10. So I figured I might as well save myself $10 and order it from the dealership. But if this isnt the right part number, does someone else have a different # that is correct?

drill the local dealer on ordering the part
and the correct one. They have to be the laziest parts guys Ive ever heard of. I guess its not a $1000 windshield, so they arent too interested in researching it for you.

Tell them to look up the part number on a 94 (rear window). They won't find it on a 92.

Thanks for the help guys. The dealership finally found the part, ordered it in for me, I picked it up this morning for $14.01 (total with tax), and installed it in about 10 minutes. What a bad time for my window to not roll down, as the temperature begins to eclipse 100 degrees daily, and my AC doesnt work. But its all fixed now, window rolls down just fine, a quick and easy fix.
