I had an odd bird encounter yesterday. I was driving my MR2, and this bird flew right in front of my car and smacked the left headlight. It bounced off the hood and landed on the left windshield wiper, feet up, right in front of me.

I was slowing for a stop sign, so I was going maybe 20mph when it happened. It startled me, but I figured the bird was just stunned. It even twitched a couple of times.

Then it started bleeding from the head.

I've never had to wash blood off any of my cars before. My wife pulled into the driveway as I was hosing the car off. 'Did a bird get you?' she asked.

'Sort of,' I amswered.

The ironic thing is, I drive with my headlights on all the time for safety. In the MR2, that means they're flipped up. If I didn't do this, I probably would have missed the bird.

That happened to me while driving my dad's GC in the middle of the night in our coutryside house. I saw a Bat fly in front of the car (I figured that I hit him, but didn't give it much importance)... arrived home, parked the grand and went to bed.
The next morning I went down to the porch and saw something stuck in the Jeep's front grille!!!!!!!

Birds are always flying in front of cars here. It's like they are trying to show their friends how cool or brave they are.

Years ago when I worked at a local gas station a woman pulled in and said she thought she hit something. I went to the front of the car and found a large pheasant rammed in the grill head first, feet pointing straight out. I had to grab it's feet and rock it back and forth to get it out. Sounds nasty but it was hilarious, I wish I had a camera.

i drove my 93 legacy in to a ditch because of a phesent!!! i was just driving along in IA coming up to a bird. i was thinking... its a bird it will move OMG ITS NOT MOVING :skreeeech: :Swerve: ran it in to a big ditch... i was being flowed by two friends and they were like "holy crap do i need to get my dads pickup to pull you out???" i just look at at them and said "watch this" poped in to reverse and backed right out i love subarus
