So when you say the metal part of the sensors body are you talking where the screws go thru? Because other then that the sensors body is completley plastic.

So I did what everyone said and this time with it as far as it could go it read 0.53 I will drive it around some but I dont understand why its changing everytime I test it. I even checked with neg on engine rather then on sensor and it was 0.53 Maybe my voltometer is screwed up.

There is a good chance that your tps is dirty. Have you tried cleaning it out with electrical contact cleaner (you can get it at Radio Shack)?

spinn,
you say that you replaced the TPS. Have you checked to see the throttle cable is too tight, pulling the throttle slightly open? Have you, or anyone else adjusted the throttle linkage? What about the cruise control cable?

Another potential issue is your throttlebody needs to be cleaned and the butterflies can't close completely as a result.

the cables are not to tight. Maybe it is the butterfly. I dont know I just want to push my car off a cliff. Everytime I fix one thing something else goes to sh!t. I think there might be some terrible electrical grimlins inside my car.

Cant someone with a shop manual pull off the Ohm spec.and give it to him for the tps? Then he can just take the sensor off and check it, and see if its bad or not. Correct?

I am going to try and put the old TPS back on and reset it see if its doing the same thing. then if it is I will try and clean the butterfly thing. THats all if I get home because it snowed this morning and my car has no AWD, for some reason. I can feel what to me feels like binding when the tps is messed up from the awd but as it is set theres no AWD does that make any sense???

Definitely. The TPS is one of the inputs the TCU uses to determine the application of AWD.

Well the way I have it set up now which last read at .53v the AWD does nothing I am completley in 2wd in the front and it sucks. the car runs fine but the Check engine code comes on everytime the rpms go down to about 1k. If I just put my foot on the gas the Check engine light goes off, if I push a little bit more the rpms go to about 700, then go back up as I press on the gas. Also if I have the car parked and running the rpms sometimes (only after I put on this TPS) go up and down between 500rpms to 1500 rpms.

I am home and I ran the CE codes and I got 31, 32, and 37 so the tps shows up bad now dont know if it shows up because its bad or because its set incorrectly. I am going to clean my other tps and see if it does any better. I bought some throttle body cleaning fluid so I can clean the butterfly intake and I put some fuel cleaner in the tank so the injectors and stuff get cleaned to just for good measure. I will let everyone know when ther car runs perfect. So you'll probably never hear back from me. J/k

Well I finally got it set to .5v I cleaned the tps with CRC electrical parts cleaner, but that didnt help. So I tried the other one to no avail. Then I played with the throttle just to see what would happen but nothing. So I took off the plastic intake and cleaned the butterflies or what ever there called. At first that didnt work but I just cleaned some more and wiggled em back and forth and that finally did the trick. the tps voltage went from a .77 to .1ish if I push just a hair on the butterflies the tps will jump up to about .77 so that was it. It must have had some dirt. Now I am going to clear the codes and then test drive it. Hopefully it works well.
