ot/really, way ot- GEO Prizm

Anyone know how much power the 1.6 ltr made on the 94 Prizm? I found one at a local junk yard and was going to put it in my MR, mainly because it's a newer engine.

It's a Toyota 1.6L. That engine is pretty much bulletproof and is mostly used in the Corolla.

As for power, it can't be much.

No no, horse power/torgue. How many Amish buggies can it pull at one time. I've been trying to find out on the 'net but all I keep getting is used engines and cars for sale and the like.

The only statement of HP I could find was in an Edmund's review of a '97 Corolla. The only number given is 105hp - I have no idea how fast you have to spin the engine or what the torque figure is. I suspect, though, that torque is a very similar number.

I'm with you, I get along with most metrics but hp/kw just hasn't settled in with me. I guess the thing to do is to think of it as being able to light 690 100-watt light bulbs.

Thanks for the info guys. See, what I was planning on(and still might) is just get the short block and swap on my spare 4age head(after I give it a valve job). Next week the junk yard is haveing a $50 and engine special. $50 is a lot less than the $1000 I put into the 86's new'used' engine that I got. As far as I could tell it is a 7 rib block which means its alot stronger and has beefier inards.

I had one. 1.6 dohc fuel injection. Horsepower is 105. Torque is 100 lbs/ft. Pretty reliable engine and good gas mileage.
