EGR Error Codes
A few weeks ago, the check engine light came on and it was throwing a 56 error code (EGR valve). It was going to the shop anyway, so I asked them to check it out. The service manager then asked me if I had a chip, (which I do: Stage 2 v4) because, according to him, that code is handled by a chip that goes in the expansion slot that the Ecutune chip goes into. I didn't want to get into cross finger pointing issues, so I just told him to replace the EGR vlave, which he did, and the problem went away. Now I have an intermittent check engine light and it is throwing a 55 code (EGR temperature sensor). It is off now, but who knows if it will come back. I note in the trusty SVXipedia that these two codes 55 and 56 have a "(CA)" after them. I was wondering if these were for California emissions only and if the expansion slot really is for a California emissions control chip. If that is so, am I getting phantom codes. If not, does anyone think driving through high water might cause a 55 code. In case anyone didn't know, its been raining here is New Jersey lately. I'm thinking of building an ark just big enough for my wife and I and the SVX.

I have been told that driving through a cold puddle will throw a check engine code.
