Well, they want to total the car. I think I am pretty happy with the offer, however. This is a 92 LSL with about 130K miles on it. They are offering $4100, and I'm buying it back for $50 (yes, fifty). They are also paying to store it until Friday and then tow it to my house, which is nice.

It has a nice set of low-mileage Konis on it, and mechanically had no major problems before the accident. Not sure yet what I'm going to do with it, either sell it to someone here or fix it up myself...

Any thoughts?

P.S. Congrats on the engagement btw. Last time I saw you, she was still your girlfriend and you mentioned that she was a keeper...

I'll start the bidding at $51

Seriously though... Fix it up, with what they gave you you can easily get all you need to get it back on the road.

Hmmmm,
$4100.00- $50.00 = $4050.00 for aluminum radiator, small car lights and grill,
Dales front bumber, a fiberglass hood, this could be a good thing! Tom

Mike,
Will this mean that the car - if you fix it - would now have a salvage title?
By all means fix it! ....give me a call/drop me an email if you don't

In PA it would but I do have a nice title for a 92 Pearle sitting here in case you'd be interested in changing vins!

Oh yeah $52 even. Can't let Hocrest get ahold of it to toast another engine, fry another transmission or bake another finish!!!

I am sure Chike wouldn't mind taking your Konis if you decide to get rid of it. He has caught the Auto-X bug and is itching his arm all of the time trying to figure out what to buy next

Yes, in Maryland it would be procedure for the insurance company to get a salvage title in their name, and then transfer the title over to Mike.
He then has to fix it, and get it Maryland State Police inspected, BEFORE he can sell it!
It's his property, but Maryland does not allow the car to be sold untill it passes a MD State Police inspection!
I just went through this with my slightly crashed Claret with a WV salvage title!
MD will allow me to junk it, part it out, or fix it completely including the inspection.
This stinks because a friend of mine who is a bodyman, wants it, but can't buy it untill its done.
My sugestion to Mike would be to take LOTS of pictures, to show it was minimal damage!
Good luck, Mike, whatever you do.

I have to think it over a little. In addition to the SVX, I have an old 911 that needs some paint work, a Jeep for winter driving, and an Audi with pretty low miles that I can drive to work most of the time. I may just sell the wrecked SVX and put some of the money into fixing up the 911 right now, and keep my eyes open for that "perfect" SVX down the road a little.

We'll see. I need to think about it for a few days and get over the initial shock a bit before I make a decision...

If I do decide to sell it, you guys will definitely get first crack at it.

I'll get pictures posted in the next couple days.

The bad thing is I think YOU have to fix it before you sell it (at least that's how PA is) otherwise the title will always be a salvage and can't be used for anything other than parts.

My arm is itching a lot lately!!!! Definitely wouldn't mind some konis, but I may just go with Mychailo's Sport Springs on the stock shocks initially...

We'll see what happens. Right now I'd like some more n/a power!!!!

but then there are those of us that have possible applications that don't require a title, only a trailer and a truck to pull it....
