So the solution would be to find a TCU from a FWD SVX?

i would think that an Impreza would work as the wiring harnesses are so similar on the tranny end but haven't gotten one yet to try it. If not doesn't Jesse have a FWD parts car lying around?

Mr. Benebob,
From the appearance of Mr. Green1995SVX's locker, he has a multitude of SVX parts in some sort of building with no windows. I hope he does not also live there!

I am pretty sure that all 4eat will change at peak rpms to save the engine. That change point is probable different for the different engines.

I remember saying a long time ago, that the shift pattern in the TCU of the smaller engines may have a better shift timing than the SVX. Because they don't have as much power to waste, the TCU would do a faster, harder change to maintain velocity.

Harvey.
Thanks for the advice on whats causing this problem. Lot's of 1.8 Imp's in the yard to pull out of... Hopefully the wires match????

The 4eat in my 97 Legacy won't shift if I have it in 1st, but rather it will stay in gear and bounce RPMs at Redline (same thing if I have it in 2nd, it will shift from 1st to 2nd, but won't shift into 3rd. I'm guessing the same story for third, but I've never redlined with the selector in third)

The woes continue. Doesn't like shifting out of first every. Sometimes it'll go to second, other times right to 3rd or 4th. We even plugged a Legacy FWD tcu in it and I think it ran worse. Oh well off to the yard to pull a nice $30 awd tranny this afternoon.
