Needs an alternator
My alternator is not sending enough power to my battery so obviously I can't drive my car. The dealership wants $300 for a reman and I don't want to shell out that much cash for a freakin alternator. I did a
 search for parts and I couldn't find one anywhere. Any suggestions?

Post a wanted thread in the for sale forum. There has to be someone with one somewhere.
Don't buy a parts store alternator. they are junk - you are better off with pulling a used oem one from a junkyard than getting a new one from a parts store. I got one new from teages auto a few years back for around $150 - oem subaru alternator. I also got a used one at Reading 4 that is still working fine. Someone here might also know of a rebuilder near you that can take your alternator and rebuild it - that is a good option to go with.

I need a hi-amp output alternator for my SVX ...i can't believe the stock one is still holding on at it's proud peak output of 12.9 Volts.
Anyway - The place that's rebuilding a custom one might need my old alternator, but I can't go without a car to drive. So - I'll buy someones broken alternator as a core - send me a PM Thanks

try partsamerica.com. they have a delco remy with a lifetime warranty for $188.88 (at least when i pulled up my '92).

Thanks for the tip. Partsamerica does have one but it is still more than I wanted to spend, and I haven't had the best of luck with used parts so far, which makes me reluctant to get one from a parts car. I was just looking for tips on where to find one.

Try these guys : discountautoparts.com
Their prices and parts are great and you can look it up online then call them to make sure it's in stock and order it from them. They are suppliers to many auto parts stores.

I know you don't really want a used one, but I did have my parts one checked out and it's good...... just in case you can't find a new one you like.....
