My SVX is smarter than I am...

I walk away from the car to go into wherever. The security system is off most of the time, I just use the remote Lock/unlock feature. So I make my way back to the car, one of two things will happen;
A - I locked my Princess when I left her, as I aproach the car I hit the button, get three beeps, the dome comes on and the doors unlock.

B - I forgot to lock her when I went into the store, as I aproach the car I hit the button, get three beeps, the dome comes on and the doors REMAIN unlocked.

On a "One button" remote shouldn't it lock it when unlocked and unlock it when it is locked???

How does she know I am coming back to her and not leaving to go inside?? How does she know I forgot to lock her when I left her?? Will she start to take it out on me if I forget to lock her in nasty areas??

Does anyone else know this cool feature of the remote door lock/unlock module? Or how exactly it knows?

I get three beeps, both ways. And my car also seems to just "know."

I really miss my 1 button SVX remote, it always made me feel special...except when it went haywire and wouldn't shut off

When the security button is in the "OFF" (no light) position, the doors will lock when you hit the button and four quick, short beeps will be heard. Same when you unlock.

With the security button in the "ON" (blinking red light) position, the horn sounds once on lock (signifying that the doors have locked and alarm has been activated), two on unlock (indicating that the doors are now unlocked and the alarm has been deactivated).

If you come back to the car (after you've locked it), and you push the unlock button (with the security button in the "ON" {blinking red light} position, and you get three beeps instead of two, it means that the "warn away" feature, or, the alarm itself has been activated. The pattern of the blinks of the light on the security button will indicate which part of the car has been "tampered" with (driver's door, passenger's door, trunk, etc.)

i have a k-9 so when i press the unlock it beeps twice and when i lock it, it beeps once i also have the botten on the top of my stering wheel to disingage it if i need to i do this by putting my key in and hold the botten down when starting the car....this disingages it if i lose my remote or run out of batteries to turn it back on you do the same thing again..........

I was also wondering i noticed when i open my door the little light around the key hole turns on .....if you ask me its a bit dumb to have the keyhole light turn on after you open the door instead of before so you can see where the hole is......is there any way i can set it so that when i unlock my car with the remote the keyhole light turns on....just incase, not much use with the remote but would be cool too hehe

It acts that way when the security system is armed, but I usually don't have it armed.

Everything works perfectly. If I get out of the car and hit the button, I get the three short beeps and it locks. But there must be a timer of some sort that after so long it realizes that I am returning and not leaving.

I love my car

If you unlock the car with the remote, why do you need to see where the keyhole is???

This is the theory behind that feature:

If it's dark and you cant see the keyhole, you can lift up on the handle (while the door is still locked) to illuminate the key hole and then unlock the door.

in Europe, they have a keyless lock system that uses "handle lift" sequences to unlock the door.

Also, the 92's first had a "passive" (there's that word again ) alarm system. If the security button was ON, 45 seconds after you exited the car, the security system would arm itself. It wouldn't lock the doors, just set the alarm.

In May of 92, Subaru "upgraded" the security system to remove this feature.
