Car Wouldn't Start

my car wouldn't start this morning

it kept cranking and cranking and cranking and cranking
it didn't trail off like a bad battery, it just cranked and wouldnt' turn over
i cranked it for a long time, and it just wouldn't catch.
it almost caught a couple times but still wouldn't start

i had to drive a COROLA to work today (sister's car)

You had a check engine light yesterday. Run the diagnostic, silly.

Personally, I think its a loose nut behind the wheel.

Just hope it ain't the timing belt. Though no damage will be done (non-interference engine), it'll either be a "biddy witch" or expensive to replace.

You did have gas in the car, right? (I know, but sometimes the solutions are sooooo simple). Check to make sure your fuel pump is operating. Then, it could be . . . aw, heck, just start there, and report back for further suggestions.

I also had a hard time starting the car a couple of times last week and code 21 was the problem. Subaru replaced the coolant sensor and it is all good again. Cost to fix was $30 plus labor.

If I have the part number right, it should be easy enough to fix. 15.31 at 1stsubaruparts.com (PN 22630AA041). But, it shows the same part number for all models of Impreza, Legacy and SVX. If you need it quickly, you may have to go to a dealer (who should have it in stock since it's a common part and cost you around 30 bucks), if not, you could take a trip to a bone yard and possibly find one on any of the above mentioned vehicles (maybe pay 5 bucks).

Here's "kinda" a diagram of the location (This is from subaruparts.com and the price is higher).
