Ah.. .ok...

I don't really have a choice about the postage issue. Unfortunately, I don't have control on any of the pricing at all since I do not set the price, commission or the shipping charges. Thats what EMS charges for shipping form me.The inefficiency arises because of the following things:

a. we do not live in Japan
b. we want rare items from a market 1/2 way around the world
c. we have to pay for shipping
d. we have to pay Japan Import Services their commission fees.

Unfortunately all are out of my hands.

I still have a question for multiple part orders:

After you have the parts will you ship them as a single container or in the same containers as they were received?

I'm interested in getting some parts except that I would be gouged yet again as the parts are crossing yet another border. Do you know if there is a way around this?

eg. the hood emblem may cost you $50 but would probably cost me $100

Interesting...I would like to assume that the shipping would be the same to Canada as it would be to the US. and that a USD$50 part would be CAD$80.

Did I do some calculation mistake?

Oh... I got 2 orders for parts so far. I am still waiting for reply from everyone else. If I do not hear from anyone by the 31st, the order goes out on the 2nd and the items will be drop shipped to your location.

If you miss this order, there will be another set i will send out around the 3rd week of Jan.

Thanks,

Lwin

How, exactly, did you come across these JDM items and their prices? I'd like to know so that maybe I can find a large listing of what JDM items you can get... I just got kinda curious when I read at the bottom of your web page that people can tell you about other JDM parts and you can then order them.

I saw majority of the JDM items at the meets or in the JDM specs car pictures or descriptions from our friends from across the seas.

I then contacted my JDM parts contact in Japan and he then tell me the exect price in JPY for the parts including his comission fees. I then look up the approx. weight for the parts on the EMS site for the shipping costs and I note down the prices.

Thanks

Lwin

hey

How come you sell the clear corners for 140 when dalye sells them for 225? Is he ripping us off?

Being ripped off is a matter of opinion I guess, but I respect both Lwin and Dayle so I'll provide a little 3rd party insight.

First off, as far as I know, all clear corners being offered are the same, quality Subaru OEM part. I have a pair of these myself which I got for even less from a source no longer available.

To be fair, we'll add the shipping charges to Lwin's price. $140 + $29 = $169. Of course Dayle's site says there is some extra shipping so assuming $15 or so IF he is only charging for U.S. shipping from AZ to your house, that brings it up to $240. Still quite a bit more than Lwin's price. About $70 more, maybe a bit more or less, I don't know what he charges shipping on those.

So why is Dayle charging around $70 more? Well he is running a buisness for one thing. He needs to make a profit. To say that is ripping you off is like saying Sears is ripping you off because Sears is selling you a Panasonic 27" TV for $300 when you could go to the factory in Japan and get it for $150. In retail sales there are lots of middlemen in the process and everyone gets a cut. In Dayle's buisiness he orders a TON of stuff from Japan (remember he has a full performance shop, not just SVX) and he probably has to pay a import service to bring these parts over and through customs, etc. So he may even be paying more for the part than Lwin can get it over here for. (if he is, maybe he should look into it, although being a business he may have more restrictions on how he can import things than Lwin does) So on top of whatever Dayle pays for the part and then to get it over here, he needs to charge a bit more to make a profit on it and make it even worth his time to sell it in the first place. Just like Sears, Circuit City, etc. in the television example. A business needs to make a profit to survive.

Lwin on the other hand seems to be doing this service to us for no extra cost whatsoever. He has even indicated that he may have to pay any small extras in shipping out of his own pocket rather than ask for compensation after someone has already paid him. He deserves a bit of profit for what he is doing, taking the time to take everyone's order, make the big order to his contact in Japan, etc, etc. Sounds like a pain to me and he is saying he will do this every month until everyone has what they want? That certainly is a service to our community and I hope he at least gets some kind of compensation out of it, maybe the shipping will end up slightly lower than estimates for him. I would have no problem with that if I was making an order with him.

So to make a long story short (too late), Dayle is just trying to make a living the same way any other retail store in the world has to. He has a physical store in AZ and a online store that's been going for years. He makes it easy to buy some hard to find items for the SVX and is by far the largest source of aftermarket parts for us. With that said, if you are willing to take the time and track down leads yourself, you could probably find just about everything for a little less. Consider it money earned for the extra work you do researching to take out the middle man. In this case, Lwin has done a lot of that work and offered some hard to find parts for less. Take advantage of the offer while you can.

Well the story is that Dayle is running a business as well as he has to STORE the items. Thus insurance cost adds up on the items in storage. He is running a business. Chances are I will be increasing the prices a little on each item if things goes well. Not as much as Dayle but it is a pain trying to get things done. I don't really want to make a ton of money. For me, its just fun. I get to see what is still available to us from Japan. I am not trying to rip anyone off or make anyone else go out of business.

How come Dayle sells items for a higher cost than me? Well, when you order from me, the order will only goes out once a month. Period. No exception. The parts SHOULD be in your hands about 3 weeks after my order left my house. With Dayle, you can just call him and he can ship you the items next day. That's the difference.

Thanks

Lwin

Lwin's analysis is fairly accurate. I originally found the JDM parts contact that Lwin is currently using aver 2 years ago. I have placed many orders in that time and the prices for the parts, shipping and insurance have remained fairly stable.

I bought my clear front turn signals from a UK dealer, Bell and Colvill. They are the same part number as the JDM parts, yet were more than twice as expensive ($127.00 each, plus shipping). I guess its because they have to import the parts from Japan and then add their own costs to them. However, I don't see the justification for that much of a markup. The low prices we get from Japan include a 12.5% commission amd shipping.

Look in my locker in the ALCYONE SVX ACCESSORIES CATALOG http://www.subaru-svx.net/photos/user.php?svxcess

I received this from the parts contact in Japan. It showed all factory accessories that were available fror the JDM SVX. Some, but not many of these things, are still available. One of the more outrageous things that he has available is this spoiler
