Are degrees Furenheit similar to "Furlongs per Furtneit".

You are mixing up my car's rate of progress with a gin sodden weekend in Hong Kong. A Sloe boat to China, as it were.

As metrics go, degrees Furenheit is an Imperial measurement. It's a handy measurement, when taken in the right spirit[see above], but having imprecise units, is unable to distinguish clearly between hot, very hot and dangerous to touch.

It is a rule of thumb, after all. Caveat emptor and draw your own conclusions on the state of health of the tranny. The management do not....yadda yadda

I was about to give you a big thumbs up....

Cat Astrophic

Thanks Don

I must set my face like flint. At least the internals are all new. Something must bave broken, and possibly the simplest fix would be a valve but it's a wait and see job.

The police have recovered the car stolen in the robbery. Would be good fortune if my tranny was still in the trunk. However, the car is impounded as part of a big criminal gang thing, and the garage owner has not been allowed near it to see what might be in it.

Hopefully no major components destroyed in the tranny that is on the car. It was driving really, really well in the day and a half I had it to enjoy.

Joe

I have been a little previous in my praise of the SVX. Complete breakdown last night. Revving out in all gears, going nowhere fast.

The cheapest solution, burst/disconnected pipe, loss of ATF, is not the one, it is still full of oil. So it can be a stuck valve, clogged strainer, broken pump or a number of other unwanted ills.

Will have the car freighted back to the shop tomorrow, see how we go.

Let you know how the situation develops,

Joe
So sorry to hear of your reversal of luck That happened to me once with the Trooper I owned some years back. I had the engine rebuilt after a head gasket blew on it and wrecked the internals. it took weeks for the shop to rebuild it for me. When I finally picked it up and drove away, I didn't get more than 10 minutes from there when a radiator hose blew and the water dumped out before I knew it had happened and destroyed the engine. They accepted responsibility when I reamed them out for rebuilding the engine and not replacing any of the hoses and they honored their work and rebuilt it a second time at their expense but what a pain in the patooty!

Better luck with your SVX

Nothing worse than a case of SVXus Interruptus -- well, maybe ONE other thing, but, it's just as bad.

Will keep all necessary digits crossed for you, Joe.

Thanks guys.

The breakdown was a real sinking feeling all right, so I know how you must have felt Johhny.

I have my car back!!

The oil pump broke. Pat started it at 4 PM yesterday, worked into the night to finish.

To say he is a little embarrassed with the breakdown would be major understatement. Cast metal circlips in the pump broke into bits, siezed the vanes, so no oil pressure, no movement. Luckily no other apparent damage.

However, he has adjusted the brake band a little looser, and I may be detecting a slight flare going to second that was not there last week. If it persists I will have him retighten it a bit more.

Right now, I don't trust that the car will stay going, and am typing this post with all my fingers crossed, and am unfamiliar with nose typing. Pls frgive iny tipoes.

Joe

Cool

Glad to hear it's nothing major, Joe. Good luck with her from this point on!
