4.44 question.... rear axle doesnt fit???
I am in the process of setting a record for the world's slowest 4.44 swap (you tring doing it with a broken hand
 ). I got the rear diff out tonight and started putting in the new 4.44 rear diff out of a 1998 legacy outback. I started lifting it into place while sliding the axles on, the driver side went in perfectly but the pass. side axle will absolutely not go in. Looking inside the hole on the diff it is solid metal cylinder until you get to the teethed inner section. The axle start to slide in but once the second set of teeth on the axle hit the rim of that metal cylinder it stops because it is not a large enough opening.... I think this is a LSD,non-LSD problem that I am dealing with here.... Any input?
