Okay, I'm getting annoyed now...

For some reason, everytime I start the car in the morning, the emergency brake light comes on and stays on for about 20-30min, even though the brake isn't on. It started a couple weeks ago, just doing it every now and then. Now, it's every morning, and it's driving me nuts.

Any ideas?

Assuming you set it every night....It Might be worth your time to buy a can of WD-40 (or lube of choice) and spray all the components between the handle and the actuall pads cause it sounds like somethings sticking ever so slightly and that icludes the button that triggers the light.

The BRAKE light does double-duty, also alerting you to low brake fluid in the master cylinder reservoir. I had this happen in my Legacy; just topping-off the brake fluid and jiggling the wires to the sensor cured the problem. (Which action did the trick, I don't know.)

It happens more often that's probably your brake pads are getting even lower... (if your brake fluid is low)

If your brake fluid is low, top it higher and it might solve the Emergency brake light on and off problem...

You have to open the brake reservoir cap to check the fluid.
Whats hapening is the rubber gasket is pushing down on the low fluid ivory colored switch float, as the brake fluid drops.
When you remove the cap, turn it upside down and push the rubber gasket so that it does not pertrude.

If the light stays on, it is because the level of fluid is low. It stays just below until the fluid warms up and expands so that there is just enough in the tank for the light to go off. Top it off, and it should be fine.

You may want to take this time to suck out all of the fluid in the tank and add fresh.

This is the same problem I had. After filling the brake fluid a little higher than the full mark, problem was solved. Thanks to all the SVX members feedback!
