CARFAX my replacement trans?

Help!

My replacement 4.44 Outback trans has VIN TZ102Z2CBA-DT
with another number 197074. [January '97?, a '96 car?]

Using the VIN, will a CARFAX reveal the miles on the car when wrecked?

Can someone with Subaru connections confirm the 4.44 ratio by the VIN?

Thanks, any help is appreciated!

Tom, that's my trans! Exact same number? All 4.44 trans have that number, or just '97 OUTBACKS? I thought that number was a VIN number. Well, so much for CARFAX. Actually, there is another number that was dremmeled on the case. Maybe that is the VIN.

Anyway, bought a good tap, swapped the bent wrecker lines for oil lines from busted trans, the days are growing longer, so, ready to go! And the boys are asking when we are going to put the trans in. That's nice to see.

Thanks for the note!
