Hitchhiker's Guide take 2..

apparently Disney is working on a new Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy movie..

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmp...film_galaxy_dc

featuring Mos Def as Ford Prefect!! bahaha!! should be good.. probably won't be nearly as cool as the original movie though.. they did a great job on that one.. wonder if it's avaliable on DVD.......

I don't think Douglas Adams would have approved...

I hate it when they try to remake something that was perfect the first time round. I'm sure it will be a perfectly good film, and will make lots of money for everyone involved, but I'm equally sure that the brilliance of the original will get lost along the way.

Just my opinion.

Phil.

The original was great, but I think a new one could be nice with modern technology and CG.

tHHGttG was only the tip of the iceburg though, when I watch it it seems so short and lacking. I really hope they do the entire series. Hitchhiker's guide is like the Hobbit, it's not complete without the rest.

I was already a huge Douglas Adams fan in high school and discussed the books with my favorite english teacher often. As luck would have it, when Mostly Harmless was released, Douglas did a small book signing in my town. He read a couple selections from the new book and a couple others and answered some questions. I got my leather-bound book signed as well as the copy of Mostly Harmless I bought that day.

He also signed my hat.

Really, really nice guy and I'll remember that day always.

Anybody who liked the Hitchhiker's Guide series should read Last Chance To See. Great book.

The Salmon of doubt

I'm about to finish reading this book, effectively the last book "written" by Douglas.

The first half is a collection of thoughts, introductions, presentations and interviews from Douglas' archives. The second half is an edited selection of various chapters (found on Douglas' multiple Mac's) of the last novel he was working on.

It's a Dirk Gently novel, and so far is right up there with his best despite being a concatenation of various different versions.

Douglas does alude to the various attempts to make a movie of the H2G2 series in this book.

If you want to see the on-line 'guide' go to :http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/alabaster/
