Question Headlamp Aim/Leveling Device Question

Happy Valentine's to All SVX Lovers!

My question is about the aiming device behind the HighBeam lamp. I refer to the small bubble level. While cleaning up under the hood of my recently aquired Rocket I find the small bubble level on the driver's side lying loosely in the small "box" along with 3 of the 4 small plastic tabs meant to hold it in position. The "holder" appears to be a simple plastic bracket screwed onto the box.
Looking at the exploded diagram at subaruparts.com I don't see these parts and wonder if anyone else has had to find and procure them. I'm hoping these are not considered part of a $300+ "assembly" and are available separately. Anyone have part numbers or a better parts diagram?

Thanks for any advice.
Glenn

Check the other headlight level. It should be the same. If there is not one there, there should be. Good luck.

are you not able to physically aim the lights, or is the 'level' just broken off? the level is useless - mine showed perfectly level, while the headlights were searching for planes in the sky. don't rely on the levels for adjusting your headlights properly.

Thanks Alan. Maybe I'm making something of nothing then. I just want everything to be "right" with my Baby, and something broken like that bugs me! As an aside, are you sure your "levels" are secure in their brackets?

Glenn

yep - secure and WRONG. park on the level, and use a wall and some measuring tape. i don't remember exactly what the heights/distances are, but you can find it by doing a search. much better than relying on the cheapo levels.

In my '92 the headlight levels are adjustable. One of the screws at the end of the glass tube holds the level carrier against a spring. So adjust your lights where you like them or where the check with tape measure process says they should be, then park the car on a LEVEL floor and adjust the bubble to read level. Next time you mess with the lights, just park it on the level floor and adjust the light aiming screws to center the bubble and you'll be where they were before.

A drop of paint on the bubble adjust screw helps keep things from changing.
