RE: popups

if it's kazaa, you need to check the 'add/remove programs' under control panel and then remove any applications that you are not familiar with. i installed kazaa and noticed like 20 different applications that got installed like some weather station ads and such. after that you can get adaware from download.com and have it scan your computer. good luck.

The program that's giving you popups is probably gator. Do a search for anything that says gator on your hard drive and deleate the files. Or just use adaware as suggested.

pop-ups

Sup.

There is a program called "pop-up stopper" that you can download for free and actually works very well. It is made by a company called "Panicware" and I highly recommend it. Just thought I would share that. :P

i was actually a little upset at the presence of "spyware" on my computer because awhile back I downloaded Spybot: Search and Destroy, which did an excellent job cleaning things up.. however I realized that I had Spybot on my OLD computer.. heheh.. whoops.. I just downloaded it and as soon as i started the program up it was like "click! gator!" and i was like "you son of a *****" so now i'm doing a real thorough job

BTW a good file sharing program without spyware is kazaa lite 2.1.0. I'm sure adaware will get rid of all the crap on your machine also.

103 different pieces of spyware on the laptop. I'm sending a donation to the Spybot guy. what a great piece of software. and his EULA is pretty funny too.

Ad-aware does a really good job of finding that crap, too.

It kills ad software and spyware, very easy to use.

I highly endorse ad-aware to remove spyware and other unwanted leaches.

For elliminating unwanted pop-up windows all together, I highly endorse EMS Free Surfer MKII:

Both of these softwares have received 100% positive reviews.

If you use kazaa, there are several tricks to remove the spyware but maintain functionality. Check out the following for how to do so: http://www.geocities.com/little_kingston77/

Doing that's a waste of time. Just use Kazaa Lite 2.1.0 instead!
More functionality (auto search more, avi preview, speed up, etc) and no spyware or adware to get rid of.

click on downloads on the left and download 2.1.0
