Of course, if you just had to do an "eyball" model to model comparison, and you lined up ALL the Subaru models and asked someone to pick out the one they thought was designed by an Italian -- well, I don't think there'd be any contest.

Frankly..
I don't really care WHO designed the car. All's I know is that I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE to drive it.
I don't need to LIST the things that THIS car has that makes it the PERFECT vehicle for me. You all know them. I'm just happy that SOMEBODY designed it.

...although....
Now that I DO, in fact know who the designers are.....I'll know where to look if...if ..... oh I CAN'T even THINK it!
All I can say is that the promised personal air travel vehicle better be there when I need it.....

Brian asked me to take the R&T guide down, It was taking up over 300MB on his server.
If someone wants it in scan, PM me and I'll arrange a site for you to access it at. Doug

I think Cash is correct. I remember seeing an article about driving the SVX up a mountian in Japan in snow. It was not the R&T Guide to the SVX, I have that . I may even have a copy of the article that Cash is refering to. It's probably in the "Basement Files", I'll have to go find it.
Let's see: Pinnin Farina, Bertone, Giugiaro, ..... etc., etc., are known to car enthusiasts all over the planet. There must be something in the air, water, espresso, or pasta in Italy. Let's see, Gina Lollabidgida, Sophia Loren, Anna, Manganni, Virna Lisi, the Beautiful Naviguesser, etc., etc. There's definitely something on on over there. Too bad it takes 6 billion lira to buy one sparkplug.

I pulled out the R&T Article last night. According to that article, Giugaro was "brought in early in the design phase to reinforce the direction of the Subaru design team." That, of course, could be taken many ways. If, in most cases, the design team said, "Okay, this is what we want to do: take these cues from the Legacy and these cues from (insert name here) and put "this" here and "that" there." Then, Italdesign would submit drawings based on the direction of the Subaru team and then they would bandy back and forth until they met an agreement. The other way it could be taken is, "here are our initial drawings, can you work with those, and refine them to include "this, that, or the other?" In any case, it was clearly a collaboration, but, Giugaro got to put it on his list as a car that his firm designed. I guess that could be like the last pitcher in the game getting the "W" on his record, even though he may have only pitched one inning. In the meantime, I'm sure Johnny "D" didn't leave ALL of the DeLorean to Giorgietto, either.

Ca$h,
The magazine you described is indeed the Road and Track. And fortunately, I did grab a copy of it before Doug had to remove it. And here it is: http://svx.victorkam.ca/ Don't y'all rush to DL it at once. My cable modem will blow up. VK |
