Ah, crap!
Last night, on the way home from an errand, my SVX gave me a rare warning sign.
Out of the blue (or black...it was night, after all), four lights lit up on the dash: Steering Battery Stop Lamp Brake The ABS light came on when I was at low speeds. All of these lights flickered. The car was running just fine, even with all of these warnings on. Argh...

Well...
...after searching a bit, I see that Beav has suggested a bad alternator as a cause for this problem. I suspected that might be it... ...fun! Well, at least it's an easy alternator to get to - when I replaced the one in my Toyota truck it took me two days...

I'll second/third/fourth the alternator idea. Had mine do the same thing about 10k miles ago.

Yes that's correct
the ones that have the Speed Sensitive Steering . (sss) have a steering light that comes on the dash. for mabie low oil or low steering pressure. the Lsi's have that SSS. |

Mr. Pockets,
Back when I still had Beauty she did the same thing. Do NOT wait to replace the alternator. She up and quit and that was it. Also do the Alternator Wiring upgrade. I have heard of people having them rebuilt and they are better than the original, if that can even be possible. And there seems to be a great how-to in the How-To locker on How-To do it. Hmmmmmmm wonder where that came from. Ciao Wayne |

Loose connection
I have had this problem come and go on my car since last fall. All of the lights you mentioned would come on while driving. Sometimes they would be very dim, sometimes very bright.
They would go out completly when I accelerated above 3000 RPM's, and would flicker when I was on a bumpy road. This to me looked like it was just a loose connection. I took off the alternator plug, cleaned and squezed the teminals together. I have driven it a few times since and not seen the lights at all. You might want to try this before you replace your alternator.
