Going to the snow
Hey guys,
Im thinking of going to the snow on the weekend, taking the SVX... what things should i be wary of, i have never driven in snow, in any car, should i use chains, or the AWD svx handle the roads pretty well? i have some Simex low profile tyres, 70% tread any ideas/help would be great! thanks, Rob |

ugh...don't talk about snow....We had a long crappy winter! It's time for hot summer weather.
No chains needed, the AWD works just fine...even w/ low profile tires. Just don't expect great results in snow drifts. |

Rob are you going to have fun.
First thing to do when you get to the snow is to find a empty parking lot that is snow covered or any large empty open area will do. Practice, practice, and practice. Accelerate slowly and hard to see and feel the difference. Do the same with the brakes. If room permits let the SVX slide sideways and try to recover it. This is how most of us have learned to drive in the snow. It is also great fun. How fast you accelerate and brake is all up to you. Take your time and be safe. Do not let anyone push you to do something you do not want to try or feel comfortable doing. You can learn a lot in a few hours of "fun" as opposed to learning on a snow covered road for the first time. Another important item would be a camera. Take pictures of you and your SVX in the snow. Enjoy Steve

If it isn't obvious enough already, be very careful. The AWD is good but it's not going to save you if you do something silly.
Without snow/ice tires you will slide. Remember how heavy the SVX is and give yourself a lot of room for error.
