Talking GOOD! gas mileage improvement

Left Portland area last week for a Denver, Dayton (Ohio) and St. Petersburg, Florida trip. I had just completed a two-step Auto-Rx application for vehicles with more than 100K.

Gas mileage was as follows:

Portland to Caldwell, ID 26.82 mpg
Caldwell to Evanston, WY 27.71
Evanston to Cheyenne 28.90
Cheyene to Colby, KS 29.84
Colby to KC, MO 29.25 (WHAT HAPPENED?)
KC to Effingham, IL 30.88
Effingham to Troy, Ohio 30.58

Troy to Eastridge, TN 29.28 (a 450 mile tank!)
Eastridge to Valdosta 29.35
Valdosta to St. Pete 30.38

All on Mid-grade ranging from a high of $1.779 in KS to a low of $1.529 in Troy, after gas prices just went up?!

This is the longest freeway trip I've ever taken in this car...

Auto-Rx WORKS!

p.s. ONE ticket (in Colorado, doin' 90 in a 75, $50 + an $8.80 "surcharge")

My 16 mpg compared to your 30 mpg makes me sad. I'm using the high grade stuff too. I think I'll switch to mid grade and see if that does anything.

Question average speed?

Well, I made it from Portland to just South of Denver in 21 1/2 hours, and that was about 18 hours of driving and a 3 1/2 hour nap... Then 22 hours from Denver to Dayton with another 3 hour nap... Say, around 2,550 miles in 37 hours = 68.9+ mph

In actuallity, average cruising speed was probably around 80 or so, but there sure is a lot of (RE)construction going on on the Interstate system. Down to one lane in each direction, both on one side of the median, with 45 mph (posted) for miles on end through Oregon, Idaho, Utah, Wyoming, Kansas, Indiana & Ohio. Even going through Denver at 10:00 am Saturday morning was hell! I think that the Denver arterial traffic may be the absolute worst I've ever seen. Including Seattle, SF & LA, & Washington, D.C.

As far as the mpg goes I was VERY pleased! I, too, normally get somewhere around 20-22 around town.

bajanut: Yep! That's it.

My 94 LSi regularily gets 30+ on the hwy. I commute bet. Toronto and Binghamton NY. My last trip I did 273 miles on 8.8 gals. I was using my cruise set at 74. However the 100 miles I take from Toronto to the border the cruise was set at 83. My tach is usually reading 2600 rpm at 74 and 2900rpm at 83.

Maybe having your wheels on backwards improves the mileage?

Exclamation Auto-Rx in tranny

Have yet to do the tranny treatment as I have another 13K before the next scheduled ATF & filter change.

I have no reason not to believe that it will be effective. I just want to swap out the in-line filter, etc., when I do make the application.
