Barcelona, Pearl, and Laguna...an SVX 9/11 tribute

My support goes out to those to whom this day holds special meaning, those who were directly affected by the events that occured one year ago. Though i was mostly unaffected by the tragedy, I will still remember the events of the day for the rest of my life. Remembering what was going through my mind as i followed the migration of people leaving the city of pittsburgh, i feel very lucky to be alive and typing this.

Well here it is, the best way i could think to pay tribute to the day...SVX style...it may be simple, but it's in the spirit of this site and the day we are in.

For months after 9/11, thankfully neither I nor my family could find anyone than we knew had been killed in that tragedy. Then one day I was visiting a site called classmates.com and found out that my best friend from high school, whom I had lost contact with, worked for Canter Fitzgerald, the bond trading company who lost most of its employees. Then I found out that he recently lived only a couple of miles away from me, which is on the other side of the state from where we went to school. He also did some of the same things after college that I had done. It was very bizarre and sad. We probably shopped at the same supermarket but never ran into each other. What a bummer.

Driving to work this morning, I was thinking about holding an SVX Meet at Liberty State Park on Saturday, 9/11/04. Liberty State Park is on the New Jersey side of the Statue of Liberty. It was the very first SVX Meet that I attended. It was in Dec. 1999. I have photos from this meet of Rosie standing in front of our SVX with the WTC towers in the background. There were 6 or 7 SVXes there. In attendance were Blondeman, Kevin OBrien, Yulia & her daughter, Rosie & I , SVXIT, ALex, etc.

Maybe we can get this together and all visit the Statue of Liberty.

God won't be near me but my family will be. I'm going to eat dinner at home tonight, with my family. Probably crack open a brew later tonight in memory of everything.
