Brilliant Red Paint Pigment
i have a 94 Brilliant Red SVX LS, its got just 50,000 on it and it was garaged kept by an older couple who owned it before me and the paint on the side view mirrors and the rear plastic pieces underneath the rear windows is fadded really bad. I heard that there was a pigment problem a couple years. Anyone know anything about this??
Thanks -Bryan |

Welcome to the site. Hope you find all of the informaton that you need here. Sounds like you go a good one. Just a couple of points though. 1) The paint color is Barcelona Red in 93 and 94. The Bright Red was on the 95s and newer. 2) The car is a LSi if it is a 94 with the touring package. The 92s and 93s were the LSLs. The plastic part on the back and the mirrors have the tendency to get dull. I have polished mine with rubbing compound and waxed and that brings the paint back to what it was when new. The paint just seems to get dull and look faded. Good luck on the new project.

Bryan-
Try using some clear coat body scrub on the mirrors. (I'm not sure who makes it but you can find it at many automotive discount stores. If this doesnt work, you'll want to move to something alittle more abrasive like some 3M fine cut polishing compound. If these methods fail, both the pieces under the rear windows and the mirrors are available pre-painted directly from subaru. This would insure a proper match with the rest of your car and would eliminate the need to have them painted at a shop and risk getting an less-than-perfect job. If you would like pricing information on these pieces, give us a call at (800)KERVEN9 Mike kerven subaru |
