Windshield Tint Color

I remember coming across several posts in the past, but a search has proved inconclusive. As far as windshield tint goes, are there three flavors or only two?

I thought there was only bronze and blue, but my insurance company rep is telling me there is bronze, blue, and green.

So I've looked at my windshield, and I'll be damned if it doesn't look teal , which as we all know is blueish green! So this had me stumped.

Are there really three colors of tint to choose from, or is the insurance guy clowning me?

Alright! Found the answer. According to Larry:

"The windshield in the SVX comes in 2 tint colors. One is blue-green for gray-charcoal interiors. The other color is a bronzey tint for beige interiors. Both colors come with the titaniun-oxide coating to stop UV rays. (It' also prtects the interiorif you regularly park at a nuclear pwer plant- he he).

This coating interferes with radio wavves (radar). "

Looks like my insurance guy has a sense of humor.

I was only aware of the two, but, I just looked in the 92-94 parts catalogue. They list both Subaru and NAGS part numbers

Glass, Windshield

Subaru - Tinted
Shaded 65001PA230
Bronze 65001PA210

NAGS
w/Attach
Blue/Green Shade FW00700BGY
Bronze/Blue Shade FW00700ZBY

w/o Attach
Blue FW00700BTN
Bronze FW00700ZTN

Perhaps your windshield has been replaced before, using a NAGS part.

Colors

My 94-96 Subaru Parts Microfiche shows three colors with part numbers and lists production dates and models equipped.

65001PA300 Green
65001PA210 Bronze
65001PA230 Blue

The only exception to this rule was the 1992 Claret/black combination. It had the gray interior AND bronze glass.

(I often wondered why they left the gray interiors in the Laguna Blue, after all other combinations went to beige/tan. maybe they thought the bronze glass wouldn't look good with blue paint.)

Windshield

Hi everyone, This is really interesting, but wierd. From the time I got my '92 it had the blue/green tint across the top of the windshield. A pretty normal color for most cars. When my car was redone after my daughters little excursion, I was surprised to see it was bronze. I just thought that was what they could get ,but now I see it must have been replaced before with the wrong tint. Its always something. Take care, BOBB

There are other exceptions for the bronze windows.

D--N--Spent 15 min typing what the Subaru parts micrfiche shows and just as I hit "Repy" I was disconnected and lost it all. I will do it again tomorrow.

I have microfiche sets for 92-94 and 94-96. They list the data differently, but I will again post what they show.
