But, now I'm in one of my favourite places; Madison Wisconsin. A beaufitul city, just the right size and the interstate here is lined with trees with few places for radar to hide.
At this rate, I should be able to make it home for a Fathers Day BBQ Sunday night.

Yea, I slept in the car for about four hours. These cars are sooooo fun that I don't get fatigued. It was really great to meet the two of you. It makes me want to go the other direction an come to the next meet. Did you watch any of that DVD yet. It may seem dumb at first but it'll grow on ya.

Just past St. Paul. Gonna try to get to Fargo tonight but it might be tough, too many deer around here.

Hey, you must be in or near Winnipeg by now. Unfortunately I'm currently in Lac du Bonnet, MB which is about an hour northwest of Winnipeg. I'm currently converting my A/C to R134a. We're almost done...just struggling with one measly nut.
After that we vacuum the system and put in fresh R134 and we're done. I'll be back in Winnipeg around 4-5pm or so. Let me know how the car's running. Call my cell: 204-268-5068.

Well, I made it home for Fathers Day. I missed the BBQ by a couple of hours but at least I made it.
I stopped to sleep somewhere near Fargo, ND. Got up and and headed to the border. It only took about 3 minutes to export the car on the U.S. side, but, when I got to the Canadian side to import the car into Canada, things were a lot different. I guess a huge storm had rolled through the night before, possibly a tornado. There was lots of water everywhere, a train was blown off the tracks and huge power transmission lines laying on the ground. At Canadian Customs, there has no power and to make matters worse, there were a lot of new employees and students working on Sunday. Without computers (and air conditioning!) they were lost. What form do we use for this, what code is that, etc. It took about 2 hours to get everything done! Once I got through customs I knew I probably wouldn't make it home for the BBQ. Earthworm, it's just as well you were out of town, I was in a big hurry and didn't really have time to stop in Wpg. I made it home about 6:30 and just when I pulled into the driveway at home, my wife and kids pulled up (comming home from the BBQ at my Dads). Of course, they all loved the car. I had a shower (48 hours in the car!) poured myself a rum & coke and sat down to watch the SVX video and go through the paperwork that came with the car. The lady that owned it sure liked to keep everything. She always had the car serviced at the dealership where she bought it and the service records go right back to day one. She even kept the sticker or sign or whatever you call it that was in the window when it was new that shows the sticker price and all the options etc. I'm REALLY happy with the car. It's really tight and everything operates so smoothly. It will need a set of tires and the paint is oxidized a bit but I'm hoping a good pre-wax compound will bring it back. Because the interior is absolutley mint, I don't mind putting a paint job on it. That's something I'd probably be doing anyway. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with the headlights, try to clean them or mod to clear, (see new thread) Anyway, that's it, #2 is home. Thanks again to Dave and Melis for being such a big help getting me on my way. Thats such a big part of owning a SVX, the caring and sharing. I'll post pics soon. P.S. Want a good CD to listen to while cruisin down the interstate with the roof and windows open - try Collective Soul - Youth!

I'm glad you made it home ok. When things settle down, I can give you a couple names of products that will work wonders on the oxidized paint and plastic.

I can help you out with the headlight cleaning, see my results here: http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/showthread.php?t=26484
I still have a lot of the platic polish and sheets of sandpaper, so give me a call and we can get to working on them.

I can vouch for Canuck's taste in music. You can't beat cruising down the highway to a little Collective Soul, well maybe you can, Led Zeppelin

No worries, Earl. 600 grit, then 1000, then 1500. I don't think you could even scratch your knuckles with anything 1000 and above. It's just to smooth the 600grit rub over.

Glad to hear you made it home without any problems...I'm truely sorry I didn't notice the bubble. I felt really bad about that, but that is a gem you have. Maybe some year we'll all get together and hang for alot longer...you're a great guy and it was a pleasure to meet you.
<I have a song stuck in my head due to your "you can watch the dog runaway for 3 days..."story, can't remember who sings it but it goes something like this....[ I can see for miles and miles..I can see for miles and miles..] think it's The Who> Take care Randy and enjoy her lots Smiles, Melis
