Thumbs up Nice to meet everyone!

Ben's "incident" with the Honda gave me some time to watch the action, especially Bill's SVX upholding the honor of the Subie-lovers out there. (I won't mention that %$@# quick RS Impreza!)

The SVT, Ben's door and I arrived safely back home just before 8PM.

First a recliner and now an SVX door.....I might just go into the moving business with that Focus.

Anyway, I am now reading a copy of "Mr. Wizard's Guide to Glass Removal".

Thanks again Ben!

Don

You're more than welcome. It was a pleasure to meet ya and glad Bill had a cheering section. That RS beat me by 2 secs today I think. VERY GOOD DRIVER (plus his GF or F has excellent taste as she's got an SVX herself if I remember correctly.

As for the incident he's describing. The trailer stopped a Civic whose idiot driver decided that big thing in front of him not moving was an illussion. Not a scratch on the trailer. 1500 or so in damages to the Honda.

Thanks again Di and Tom for going out of your way to host a shin dig!

It was even more beautiful in person Disney is always there, how often is there a gathering like this in Wiley Ford, WV???

I don't even remember how many svx's were there, but I think there were somehow more svx's than there were licensed drivers

Some things I learned;
- Tom and Dianna are wonderfully gracious hosts... <Tom - "You're going to the store? Which SVX do you want to drive?">
- We need to somehow get a dealer license for PA so we can drive the racecar on the streets of Lancaster
- The recipe for plastic explosives
- Braking too much while transitioning through a chicane at too high of a speed will send your ass spinning into the grass

- You need to wear pants to shop at the convenient stores in WV
- The switch is behind the cover above the jaccuzi

All in all, even with the 150* weather it was a great weekend. It was great to see some of you guys again, and great to meet some new folks.

The Cumberland National Road Autocross folks haven't posted the official results yet, but I'm sure Ben, Dave and I did a good job "representing" the SVX community!
It was fun to drive the "racecar", even if it was just up and down the street next to the runway (okay, so one of the autoX officials wasn't so happy about my "blast" down the street ) -- Thanks Ben, thanks Dave!! -- Can't wait for September and the Subaru event - I'll use the time to do extra curls so I can overpower the racecar's "un-power steering"
Thanks to Tom and Diana for all their hospitality!! Can't wait to try this again! (oh, yeah....he's still got my car )
-Bill
p.s. note that all four wheels are actually on the ground in this picture and the "illegal" passenger
p.p.s Dave - you didn't have to purchase a runway light, did you?

Nope, but I did watch one rapidly aproaching the passenger side door while I was sliding and spinning with all four locked up
I think I even got a time on that run <although it was a ~78> so I guess I kept close enough to being on course to avoid the DNF???

Hey, if I had the choice I'd have been there! But spending quality time with the wife and kids is definitely PRICELESS!!!

Are there more digital pictures of this most wonderful of events? I have heard tales of an abundance of race-worthy SVXi in attendance...

Two SVX's ran. Bill ran his on Sat, I'm not sure of the photo coverage? Me and Ben ran ours on Sunday, but all the shots of the racing were shot on film. Give us a few days to let the chemicals work...

Svxfiles took some digital pix, you'll have to motivate him to upload them for your viewing enjoyment.

The ones I took are in my Yahoo Photos. They just show the SVXi that were parked here on Sunday afternoon.

I hijacked the wifes puter again, soobi-crosser here,

I got 2 of Bills runs on the camcorder, Made a tape for him, but he didn't come back up on sunday.
In the haste to get the XT up there, I forgot to grab the camcorder on sunday! WAAAAHHHHAAA!!

I HAD to try the Wonder Wedge, but after the first pass was wishing for one of the Legacys. I think part of the problem was the reluctance to get out of the throttle and let the tires and asphalt get aquainted, Ben TOLD me it would bind too much if I locked it in 4wd ( and he was RIGHT), and in 2wd it just lit the tires and started wheel hopping as soon as the turbo kicked in. The car is more suited to a road course than autocross. I might try drags once, or more if I like it! The engine and trans did what they were supposed to, but I had never Xed a stick, and did some dumb stuff that cost a lot of time.

all in all, The thing ran well for a $460. racer, and I learned a lot, and met some fine people, and got some good film, and got to see some fast subies, and even saw the worlds first subi TATTOO!

Did anyone get any pics of the rust and mouse houses blowing off the XT?

Jerry
