Michael,
Will the 2v7 be soon behind? (I know, you've got to get the trans built first )

Stage 2v7 and 2v7f both already exist.........
But they haven't been tested and so are not offered yet. I'm out of maf meters so I can't run it till an order i put in for some comes. Chances are good it won't need any more adjusting after I test it so figure not this week but next week.

Bill,

Get the idea about plotting out lift vs time to get a real sense of the lobe?

Idealy you would have measures for every half degree of cam rotation giving you 720 data points. The two crank rotations for a 4 stroke engine adds up to 720 degrees so then you can lay out the 720 data points from each cam to give you lift at every degree of crank rotation. Then you not only get a much better idea of how the cams will work individually but together.

I still don't have the exact # on how much the base circle had to be reduced to fit the new lobes on the cores I sent them for the prototype yet. I will soon but it's looking like next week not this week.

Nothing new going on with the other stuff yet. We're still shuffling through the production queue for the pistons. The guys at eagle have gotten lost in the warehouse or something. Last time I talked to them they were breaking boxes of sets of 4 putting together weight matched sets of 6 and I haven't heard anything since. I'll check on them soon. I haven't rushed them since they won't do us any good without pistons anyway.

While we're on this train of thought, should I send you the CAM cores I have now. I'll be working on relocating soon and if I wait I may have them at the wrong place for me to get them sent out when your ready for them.

Sure, go ahead and send them.

Tom, you mentioned having extra cams did you mean you have your cores plus an extra set or just your cores?

Considering boxes I've gotten in the past it occured to me that I better make this suggestion.....

Pack them like they were the cams you will be getting back not like worthless garbage. 1) You dont' want them getting bent. 2) They will probably come back to you in the same packaging.

uhmmmm... question. The cams require a core? I will not be building the motor for a while so my stock cams are going to be in use until then.

Valves & Springs

Hey Mike:

Any schedule on the valve train bits? Are you waiting for the pistons to make sure they work with the modified lift on the valves?

Thanks

Chuck D.

Yep, got to have cams to get our profiles ground on. There are plenty of blown engines laying around the garages of network members. Getting cheap cores shouldn't be a problem. I know I expect to get them for not much.

Speeking of which...who wants to sell their stock cams? sicksubie needs a set. I need a set and want a couple sets.

No, I'm not waiting on the pistons. The pistons were designed to be zero interference with our cams--that's not an issue. I'm waiting on the first set of cams to be ground to see how much the base circle had to be reduced to fit our lobes on them. The reduction in base circle tells me how long to order the valves.

On that note I actually just got off the phone with the cam grinder. The masters for our lobes have been machined. They are grinding the first set of camshafts Monday or Tuesday. So Wednessday I can start arranging to order the valves.

I already have a batch of the valve springs on hand ready to go.

Actually I had talked to Tom briefly about using a motor with a blown headgasket that he has at his garage for my build. Tom, is there any possibility that I could use those?
