SVX and EZPass

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone else has this problem. I cannot get EZPass to work in my 92 SVX. I have tried two of them. They work in other cars, but not the SVX. Anyone else have that problem? I have tried two of them in the car. Could it be interference with the security system? I'm pretty sure the car isn't made of some allow that blocks the signal!

Thanks, john

Re: SVX and EZPass

Hi,
Do you have it mounted behind the windshield? Do you have the bronze tint?

I have it mounted just behind the rear view mirror. And bronze tint? Do you mean up at the top?

Do you think I should mount it closer to the bottom?

Thanks,

john

Re: SVX and EZPass

Doesn't matter if it is a bronze tint or not. EZPass will not work behind the windshield of an SVX, something about a metallic coating even on the clear windshield. This has been the case for all 3 of my SVX's, none of which had tinted windshields. I have always used the exterior EZPass transducer that is mounted on the top of my front license plate mount.

Re: SVX and EZPass

Yes the windshield blocks it, but the bumper mount is quite ugly. I put mine in the back window between the speakers and it seemed to work well back there. However I no longer live in a area where I am on the turnpike a lot with the SVX so, I generally keep it in the armrest and hold it out the window.

That's what I do Just hold the pass up as I drive through. Locally the commission which gives out the transducers has a list that they check of vehicles which block the signal. Surprised your jurisdiction doesn't. The SVX is not unique.

There was a thread about this quite awhile back. I recall that somebody somehow mounted the pass inside their waterfall grill.
