Gee, Don. Sounds like you've got some good friend there. Sounds like a lot of turkeys. You're all set for Thanksgiving. Perhaps a dinner for the homeless is in order here . . .

<Eyes glaze over. Stands gets keys -- drives to corner store -- returns home and fills box with popular southern soda -- tapes up box -- despite his dislexia, write's Don's correct address on box -- shoves box in small rural mail box and raises flag -- returns to computer and snaps out of trance>

Anyhoo, I'm sure you'll figure out something to do with all those turkeys.

Crown Royal

No dear....I don't intend to drink all that ROYAL CROWN COLA....I thought that we...ah...er...could kinda soak the turkey in the soda you see, and ah...you know, it might just take the "gamey" taste outa those birds. We'll just store it in the basement till fall OK?

@#$%& Darn my luck, how would I know Aredub reads things backwards! This will require some additional thought before I return to the "watch the antenna" ploy...

(Be sure to be with us for the next episode, when our hero uses his knowledge of learning disabilites to turn the tables on the crafty Aredub of Jay...)

Significant Technical Input Registered SVX Classic SVX
97 CHROME Grille

Once again I have information from Japan Direct Import Service on other JDM parts. The Chrome grille for the Alcyone S40 is available from them. The price is 34,100 JPY ($282.00 US) plus their 12.5% commission ($35.25 US) for a total of $317.00 total, plus shipping.

If more than one get ordered at a time, the commission is split among all orders, so the price drops. Shipping time to the US east Coast from Japan has been running a consistent 4 days.

Chrome on an SVX?!?!?

What's up with that?

I can't even imagine how horrible chrome on an SVX would look! Shoot, I could mail you some luminum foil and you can wrap the whole car in it <G>.

That's like buying one of those beautiful teak wood boats and putting a couple of layers of latex paint on it!

To each his own, I guess. I bought my SVX because I liked the way it looked. No curb feelers, nor gun racks, or mud flaps...just my .02 cents.

that "wide butt" look was started in the late 60s with American Muscle cars.....it was also known as the "coke bottle" shape..
narrrow front, wider towards the rear....ie: Cuda, Challanger, Mustang, AMX.....Its a great look....Id make mine wider if I could about 2"....

Eddy, you're so right. Chrome on these cars is evil. Evil! The widebutt look as you call it is actually quite different than the Giugiaro/ItalDesign look. Giugiaro came up with the idea of the bulge over the rear wheels. His intent (and I think it works quite well) was to impart the idea of power. Many others copied (or as they say borrowed it) for their designs. Not to sound prudish or anything, but spend more time just staring at the car. From all angles in all forms of lighing. If you do this enough, you will never add anything or take anything away from these cars. To change them is a sin. Giugiaro and the Subaru engineers got it right the first time. These machines are beautiful objects. Meant to be driven and admired.

joe.....

i agree sort of. i think the body of the car is perfect and i agree that tampering with it would be sacrilege. but the wheel upgrade and the minor lowering modification i made do not dishonor the looks of the original car but merely enhance them, and as aredub himself said "the car looks leaner and meaner". perhaps one day you will get to see perfection taken to the next level. oh and yes chrome on this car is evil, just evil. unless it is in some reasonable exhaust tips. not those king ricer tips i have seen bulging out the back of a few svxes.

To each his own....the key is if you think it looks good, then you should be happy because you feel that way

Yes some things may be a little different but....its not our car, and the chrome center was a stock Alycone center just like the later models 94+ but intstead of painted to match the exterior it was chrome
