Sorry to say but that's a horrible way to lose $10,000.

At least drive the car!!

If i was rich and had that much to spare on a SVX i would take it for 15K, that is as good as getting it on off the line, My 92 has 130,000 miles

It's definately a good deal for the buyer but a horrible deal for the seller. Every mile they drove the value of the car dropped by $1.

Belts start to become brittle and crack or check with age. It is a good idea to change them even if they don't have that many miles.

Please, oh please, please, I beg of you, do not ever say that again. I have an SVX which I would like to see actually increase in value. (It would be the only thing I've ever owned that did. ) Make me special. No. Make us special. Talk like our cars are priceless. To many of us, they really are.

(I still don't deserve this car. )

Price?

I am really giving this one some thought. My only dilema is the fact that the price is $9,000.00 higher than the best retail price for the Kelly Blue Book, which is the highest priced retail guide. I just can't seem to understand, even with only 9,400 miles how they can really expect to get that much money. Is it really worth $17,000.00 in some way more than as a collectors car and even as a collector is it really worth that much? Any thoughts would be appreciated. I only spent $5,000.00 on the '92 that I have now. Granted it was three or so years ago, but the car then only had 80,000 miles on it (lets also keep in mind that I had almost $8,000.00 worth of work done to it last year and I am in need of about $2,000.00 more pluse body repairs from that stupid 18-wheeler) That would bring my total cost to $13,000.00 for my '92. Plus the two grand I still need to do = $15,000.00. Is that any justification? What would you offer? Is anyone here see it like that, with an immediatly added transmission cooler and make sure the recalled filter is replaced do you think with alot of TLC the transmission will last over 100,000 miles? What to think, what to think?

Here's the way I look at it -

There are approximately 150 million women in the US.

There were at most 15,000 SVXs brought in, lots less than that now.

You do the math. Which is harder to get - a good SVX, or another woman?

(as he hurriedly hits the submit button before spousal units with their psychic powers arrive to see what's going on . . .)

I would like to have it. My problem would be not so much the money...even though it is alot, its what to do with the car after. Do I have the resources to keep a low mileage car a low mileage car? A place to keep it, another car to drive while I own it, the insurance to run that many cars? Its almost like buying an antique that you want to keep as beautiful as it is today 15, 20, 25 years from now. There won't be many cars like that one that will come around for sale. And have you ever wished you could step back in time and do something all over. Now you know what goes wrong with a SVX and what not to do and what to look for and how to fix a small problem before it gets big. Its a great opportunity for a SVX enthusiast.

Keep in mind though most people off the street would not pay that much for a SVX and this guy is not playing fair with this forum knowing how much we love these cars...he has to come down on the price. Blue book price and bank loanability( is that a word?) has to come into play for the price he sells that car.

there are several nice SVX's on ebay right now for alot less. black '96 w/69k miles and a green '95 w/61k miles to name a few.
it would be nice to have an SVX with that low mileage, but you would be losing money in the long run buying it for what the seller wanted. it would be a waste to let it sit - SVX's are meant to be DRIVEN! besides, just because the mileage is low isn't a guarantee it isn't going to be a money pit.
