Re: New wheels for my SVX

Well, if they had looked like that one madmax i may have would have kept them.

I'm shocked, those wheels actually don't look half bad when brand new.

Re: New wheels for my SVX

Here is some more pics I took last night while doing some more work on the the stereo. It was starting to get dark out.

This shot is from behind the divers side rear tire. I liked th way the red door light is being reflected

Looks better in person of course. Taking picks in the dark with a point and shoot is not the greatest..

Re: New wheels for my SVX

Beautiful... but please fix that antenna of yours...
WD40, operating up, cleaning with a tissue, WD40, retracting down, operating up, tissue, WD40, etc....

Miss doing that on my SVX

Re: New wheels for my SVX

Yeah borken antenna..

Its bottom sleeve is bent. I don't think WD-40 and a napkin is going to fix it.

I have the "How to Clean or Replace Your Antenna Mast.pdf" ready to go, and I am speaking with a guy about buying a used complete antenna.

He is asking $40 shipped. Says it goes all the way down.
Seems like an ok deal, what you think?

Did you try to ask members around here? Check the parts section and look for people parting SVXi

Re: New wheels for my SVX

And after 300miles...

Wow these wheels get dirty in a week.

----------

Today we did car wash day for memorial day.
(painters tape is for the headlight cleaning I was doing at same time)

Pollen has been bad around here.

I love how the paint looks when it is wet in the sunlight.

After:

Nice Reflections:

And the wheels once again have their shine too.

------

One of these days I should just make a Lookin4SVX Pic Thread.
(after I fix my antenna, as pointed out by SilverSpear)

P.S. I bought a new power antenna from a member here.

Hopefully I can install it on Weds if its not raining.
Hoping to install my new used hood struts on weds also.

Re: New wheels for my SVX

I was inspired by Freeman's big pic thread to grab myself a cheap tripod to try and get pics of my interior lighting in the dark.

Background (from my "New stereo for my SVX" thread).
I wanted the Interior Lights to be red.
I used stage gels over the stock lighting:

So here are some pics I took tonight.

Freemans pics come out so much better than mine.
I think he had more ambient light.
Or maybe pearlies just photo better in the dark than ebony?
I think my point and shoot is still not the best option for nighttime photography.

Re: New wheels for my SVX

Using the tripod seemed to help a lot.. Those pictures of yours make me quite envious of your car. I want a repaint and I really want my wheels to look as good as yours. I have dents, dings, and chips all over my poor car but yours looks amazing, especially with the red lights mod.

Try adjusting the shutter speed with your camera. Mines a point and shoot too but has some shutter speed/exposure options. That'll give you more light and make it look almost like day time in the shots.

Re: New wheels for my SVX

Those were on 16sec shutter and 3.5 aperture.
Aperture options: Auto, 3.5, 8.2
Shutter options: 1,1.5,2,3,4,6,8,12,16 secs

It is very dark in my driveway. I only get a little light from the lamp across the street, mostly hits the side of the house.

Its hard to take pics of a black car in a shadow in the dark.

Other shots I took last night.

Re: New wheels for my SVX

Dont feel bad Freeman, my cars paint is HURT, its paint is original paint far as I know.
You just cant tell until you get about 2ft away.
Has swirl marks and lots of tiny scratches. Needs Professional help.
I have 2 small dents in the driver side door.
Marks and small dents on the roof from the bike rack that was installed.
My back bumper is very poor condition.
Sunroof has a sun bleached gray spot on it.
Hood has chips in it like crazy, just like it should for having 190,000mi mostly highway miles on it.

Bottom line, car needs paint. I don't have the $4000 to do it right.
So for now its a mix of scratchX 2.0 and color restoring wax.
Keeps it looking nice enough for now.
Unfortunately this mix doesn't cure the the back bumper and hood chips.
Thankfully clone tool on Photoshop does though.
