But I doubt it. It was the older crowd created the Network...

as well as giving you the Reading Meet, the 10th Anniversary meet, the Pace Car and a whole lot more in the past decade.

Like a great fine wine, mellowing and developing with age, appreciated for what it is and what it has to offer.

That last quote was spot on! Nice one

But I think Chris meant that the Godfathers of SVXWN were once very active on the board, and now as they grew older both in life and in memberships, board replies became routinely less interesting to them as it was before... hence stagnating.

But I think those same Godfathers and as John mentioned it, are irreplaceable in terms of logistics and activities. No one can replace them right now, for sure. It might be they are a little stagnating (taking the average the number of Admins, Moderators and Officers who are really active, daily over total)... but on the other hand the young whiners are not really picking up the same pace...

At least until I posted this issue on the board (are you guys checking the activity those couple of days? Cool! )

A spanky every once in a while is good for our board

Re: What is happening with SVXWN?

I come look at the forum everyday. I'm still a newbie though. Only had my car a few months now. Don't know a whole lot about the SVX, and come here to try and find new/more information. Everyone on here has been very helpful so far. My SVX has 111,XXX miles, and was not maintained good at all. I have lots of little things to do to it. Fixing the PS o-ring leak this weekend. .99 cent part cost me $4 total to have it shipped to me! Plan on seafoam treatment for intake, then plugs and check valve(IRIS) next week or next weekend. Going to also do the altenator upgrade and power mode switch when I have the time. Next would be the timing belt and water pump. Then brakes(had new OEM parts installed just before I got it, but want vented/drilled and steel lines. Next tax season, I'll be looking at where to get some 4.44's the cheapest! Don't want to do it myself, so looks like I'll taking a vacay to Ohio or Pennsylvania to have it done! Can't wait! Maybe I'll have a chance to meet some other members while I'm out there too.

I read on here before in a post, that there is a Subaru tech in St. Paul that is a member on here. He said he does travel and works on SVX's. If anyone has info on this guy, please let me know! I'm in Northern Iowa and could use someone close to help me out with things I can't figure out or do.

I LOVE this forum and will be a member as long as it is here! I love my SVX and can't imagine buying anything else!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

FYI- I agree, the search feature does suck! Needs some improvement there for sure!

I'm in Wisconsin, and would be glad to help you out. I'm on Lake Michigan but have no problems traveling (thats an understatement) or otherwise you could bring your car to me. I have done a trans R&R in my silver, and 2 in my laguna in consecutive weekends. I will be doing a 4.44 swap in the claret I picked up next weekend and a few weeks later will be doing another 4.44 swap and full engine rebuild on my silver. Feel free to message me if you would like.

I love this forum, come on it every day, multiple times. Without it, I would not have the knowledge that I now do, and also wouldn't have traveled 2900 miles to pick up the claret. Also, it is very likely my silver would have been sold if it weren't for everything here. Most people here I would consider my friends, and quite a few have treated me just as so. I feel that this is currently just a transition period for this forum and that in the longrun, everything will work itself out.

Re: What is happening with SVXWN?

When I bought my first SVX in July 2005, premium gas was $2.35 per gallon and I didn't have a mortgage payment. Not only that, but I managed to stumble on several 'project' SVX's worth fixing for very good prices.

I am currently SVX-less, but still love the car and would get another one, but I can't see that owning and maintaining one will get any more affordable (unless I win the lottery.) No SVX= fewer posts. It's all quite discouraging. I still have a spare windshield and tranny sitting in my garage.

Meanwhile, my '97 Legacy 2.5GT 5 spd. wagon is reasonably fun, and it's sure easy to get parts for.

Re: What is happening with SVXWN?

I am currently selling mine because the headgasket went. I can no longer keep this car. I posted it for sale on here but no one is interested. When I put it on craigslist I got a ton of emails but it still remains for sale. These cars are too old, too expensive, and too unreliable for most people. Subarus eat headgaskets. My dad had one that went bad, and now I have one that went bad. I would most likely never buy another Subaru. The boxer engine is a bad design. I will stick with Honda and Toyota from now on. I do love the way the car looks but that is really all it has going for it. I'm sure most of you guys will disagree with me and say that Subarus are great cars. The SVX might just be the worst example of what Subaru ever offered.
