how wide is too wide?

I was looking into doing a widebody mod to the car but the car is already fairly wide. My question is how much wider should the kit be?

Re: how wide is too wide?

Gamesy, I can understand a widebody on the front end of the car, but they will look ugly on the back end. Unless you modify the METAL, I do not recommend you mod the rear fenders.

Plus you have a rare blue SVX, I wouldn't touch it if I had it in that color.

Thanks for the input silver, i'm i'm about 80/20 for doing it (80 not doing) :P
As for the color i'm gonna be doing a repaint at somepoint down the line and will try to color match as best to laguna as i can, if not i think KONA blue would be a good choice for the future.
The only plans i have for bodywork is restyling the front bumper and maybe attempt the rear to make it look like that newer rear end everyone's been talking about.
Other than that i'm still on the fense of whether to tune the engine or leave stock and just do a good sounding audio. Either way this summer i'll be making new fiberglass sub boxes for the trunk.

Re: how wide is too wide?

The steel widebody on my impreza cost around 13 grand to have done at a shop

Something like 200hours labour

Unless you're a very experienced bodyman, don't try it yourself, and even if you are, get a crap car to practice on before you ruin yours.

lol i've been entertaining the thought of doing it to a car i just havnt thought of which. My inspiration came from Alpine's Build on the Sinister6 BMW

Re: how wide is too wide?

Wow, I just watched that youtube and I highly respect the work he did on that BMW (even though the outcome is a little ugly).

But remember, this car is for show only, any small hit on the fiberglass and it will crack where metal meets FG.

Always remember, metal on metal, plastic on plastic and FG on FG. THERE IS NO OTHER WAY.

I don't remember where I have found these photos. May be it was on English GT-forum. I liked techniques.

It doesn't even need to be a hit, temperature changes are more than enough since they expand and contract at different rates. I don't care how good glues and resins get, it will always crack eventually.
