well, you can use either 5.25" speakers in front or the stock size is 6.5". You will need these for the new front speakers. and 6x9" speakers are in the back.

Re: "old" newbie here

Why do you go to a smaller size speaker in the front?

I didn't, its just an option... some companies (not so much anymore) used to offer certain speakers in only 5.25" size... 6.5" is the correct size for the front, and some people go to 6.5" in the rear instead of 6x9" because round speakers produce a "truer" sound than oval shaped ones.

The adapter for the front is necessary though as the stock speakers mount with only 3 screws and all aftermarket speakers use 4 screw mounts

Re: "old" newbie here

Well I got around to installing the hood lifts from the how to.

Notes:
If you only have a hacksaw, you are going to hate life. I used my cut off wheel!

1 of the "stronger" struts will hold the hood up by itself! How do I know that? I sheared the threaded end off one of the new struts when tightening the nut down. I'm known for snapping bolts and sissy girl Craftsman ratchets so take that for what you will. I was using German torque specs. Wont do that on my replacement one NAPA is warranting out for me.

You will LOOSE 20% of how far the hood opens over stock.

Otherwise, easy peasy.

Re: "old" newbie here

Ok I installed the other hood strut today. DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT use the "stronger" version of the hood struts in the How-to. If you do you risk damaging your hood or breaking the pivot mounts. These are WAY too strong!

Re: "old" newbie here

Completed:

Antenna mast cleaned & lubricated. Now it goes all the way down when "parked".

T/B coolant by-pass.

Additional ground fabricated and installed. Basically I tied the battery ground point to the Alt and then to the ground below the ABS pump. I plan on adding at least two more but ran out of wire.

$15/15 min mod. I had some of TIC's bushings left over from my STi. I used the two fat small ones.

Sunroof tracks cleaned and lubricated.

9005 Headlight mod. (*note the additional grounds seemed to help the slightly dimmer pass side headlight)

MAF cleaned & red STi filter installed.

Next I am going to see if I can fab a "stealth" ram air.

Also plan on adding a Miata battery. This is my version of a mini battery. 1/2 the size and weight of the stock one.

Question does the 1 touch on the drivers window only work to rool the window up? Cause thats all mine does.

Re: "old" newbie here

What did you use for cleaning/lubing the antenna? Mine usually goes all the way down, but sometimes is still up 6" or so. As for the auto window, mine only has auto down, so maybe both of ours aren't working properly?

And I noticed you mentioned Fieros, I've also been into them for many years. Unfortunately I'm Fieroless at the moment, but I'm still a very active member of the community.

Re: "old" newbie here

All model SVXi have auto down window for the driver's window. The 92's (I believe) were the only ones to get the auto up feature as well before it was taken out for safety reasons (bye bye fingers)

I cleaned the mast with WD40 until the rag didnt turn black. Spray, cycle up and down, wipe repeat. I bet I did this 10 times.

I guess I need to find a switch for my window as I'd much rather have express down!

Fieros? oh I have had 25 or so over the yrs. Fav cars of all time. My last was a 88GT with a 3800sc/getrag. My son and I built 2 summers ago.

You may be able to reverse the one part of it if you take it apart and you will then have auto down and no more auto up. I forget but I had mine apart months ago and it seemed like it might be possible...

Send either TomsSVX or Mike621 a PM. AWD is closing its doors and they have a lot of SVX parts of every description to get rid of. I am pretty sure they have what you need.

They also come up on ebay often.

to be honest, I don't think they do, John. Those are usually highly sought after when it comes to parts cars or other SVX. People seem to break them easily

I could be wrong though
