reverse shifting problem

As I was driving on the highway, I heard a loud CLUNK. The car still ran OK until I notice it won't down shift. I'm driving 55-65 and the RPM are over 3K as if I'm driving in third gear. I got home to park in my driveway but it wouldn't shift into reverse. No leaks that I see. My transmission was rebuilt about four years ago. Any ideas?

I'm sorry to say that it is very likely time for a new transmission. My 95 did the same thing, clunk while driving, high revs, after parking had no reverse, infact I couldn't even move the shifter into reverse. It was so messed up they couldn't rebuild it, I had to supply them with a different core.

If it turns out to be the Transmission, can someone recommend what Transmission should be used? The last time, it was rebuilt to the original.
I would like to know some of my options. I don't drive manual.

Have you checked the fluid to see if is smells burnt? You may also want to drain it to see if there are any bit of metal that come out. If it were me I'd give SVXFiles a call.
