"Swapping brake discs L/R"?

Forgive me for quoting from another forum, but I thought this worthy of discussion or question in this forum.
From blueji post of 2/11/08 in the European Forum:Stabiliser:

....but the engineers I use firstly advised me to swap the discs over from left to right so they were rotating the other way and see if that cures it......need I say smooth as a smooth thing.
Has this worked for others?

Re: "Swapping brake discs L/R"?

Sorry! The original statement was;
"One other job on my winter list, was to skim my front discs, although new, they had developed a judder,...."

and it was advanced that swapping sides could be done to smooth this out. I can see some sense to this, with what I've seen repeatedly referred to as "brake material build-up" and "hot spots" leading to unnecessary disc surfacing/rotor replacement. Just wondering if this approach had been tried and documented.
