You can get the Koni's from Classic Garage. The job can be done in a weekend depending on your mechanical aptitude. This is a pretty difficult project. It includes removing the stock struts, then cutting them, cleaning them, installing the koni inserts, and reinstalling springs. I would recommend allowing yourself some downtime in case you make a wrong cut. In the event of a wrong cut, you will need a new strut housing.

It is quite time consuming. I did the install in two stages. I did the fronts in one day, the rears in a second. Depending on what tools you have it can take longer.

Anyone know if they really have them in stock??
I was going to order them a few months back and just noticed the out of stock message right before. They said they were going to get them early May I think.

-edit-
Message is still there...
"Temporarily out of stock. Advance orders accepted, due early Summer."
Who ever orders let us know. I now plan on getting them later in the summer.

Talk to mbtoloczko, go to his website:

http://rallyeng.selfip.com:8080/SVX/...ort_parts.html

He sells anywhere from the bare Koni inserts to ready to install struts with your choice of springs.

Best of all, you'll be supporting a member of the family!

Good Luck,
Dan

What's this about cutting stuff? Is there a How-To on Konis?

Intel that link is no good.

You have to cut the strut body and pull out the stock shaft and valve. Then you drill a hole in the bottom of the strut. Koni insert feeds through the part where you cut, bolts through the spot you drill. It is a messy and hard job without the right tools.

Jargon. I don't understand why it's not a direct bolt on.

I've got Koni instructions in my locker

Motorsports and Classic Garage are both out of stock. I spoke to Classic Garage and they expect new stock in late June .

So you have to slip them inside the factory strut housing? Like old body new organs? Trying to get a mental picture here.

Mr. Fu,
Imagine you have one of the stock SVX struts in front of you and that you've removed the spring. You'll have a black cylinder with the mounting brackets to bolt the strut on the hub at one end an you'll have a shiny chrome shaft coming out of the other end of the strut. To use the Koni inserts you have to remove this shiny chrome shaft from the strut. You do this by drilling a hole in the end of the black part of the strut (draining out the fluid) and then cutting the opposite end of the black part (where the shiny chrome shaft comes out) off much the same way you'd cut a piece of plumbing pipe in two pieces.
Hope this helps.
