SVX meets in the UK:

i recently found a shop that sells imported auto magazines. i was drawn to one i'd never seen before, Classic & Sports Car and bought the August 2004 edition, which i am enjoying very much. (didn't hurt that, never having seen anything in print before, my very first car was given four entire pages, 192 to 195!)

what impressed me most was the coverage given to club events, seven pages, more than twenty events, mit pics no less.

have any of the UK SVX events ever made it into these pages?

Question

Not that I am aware.

There are a number of "Classics" magazines about. They tend to pander to the clubs that have large numbers of cars about, not surprising, as they need advertiser revenue, and the advertisers will go for the volume trade.

The Subaru SVX, with only about 270 sold in UK, would be of minority interest to advertisers and magazines alike. Conversely, there are whole magazines and whole sections set aside for MGBs, TR6s and the like.

Having said that, some magazines do a good job of listing club information, and actively encourage clubs to submit information. Perhaps when the SVX meet is happening next, we can alert the magazines that it is happening.

Our first meeting, the 10th Anniversary one in Devon, was carried by the local paper. I have a copy of it, and must get it scanned and post the article on the Network.

Smile Missing link, not all there

Thanks Phil,

If there is a web link, post it up and we'll all have a look.

Can't go this time myself, it's too expensive a trip, and I have one bodywork damaged SVX going great, and one good bodywork model with the engine sick.

On top of that, my twin turbo Legacy will only be pulling into Dublin Port about then, with a four day wait to clear customs.

Some of the Soobie nerds know what the SVX is.

Most, when you say coupe, they presume you mean the two-door Impreza model.

Yeah, right!. Like we would be seen dead in a mass-market 4 cylinder tin box? With frameless windows?

Phil,

Do you know if this is mainly an impreza meet, or whether there will be plenty of Legacies there?

Our SVX is broken at present, but our Legacy might be up for it.

Phil

I imagine your Legacy would be just perfect in Longeat, green wellies, puffa jackets, save the pretty donkeys etc.

Here's a link:

Not much info.

Talking

When i spoke to Colin about it, he said he had 93 scoobies attending, & when i said i'd bring the SVX, he said 'A What?'

So i think we can safely say it's gonna be mainly Impreza's & Legacy's! lol (& 1 SVX - ME!)

Phil.

P.S. My mate is coming in his Legacy!
