what to do with fog lights?

Guys, as you can tell by my mods below, I recently installed PIAA Crystal Ion YELLOW fog lights.

When it comes to lights, I like them bright -- mainly so that I can see people coming into my lane as well as people can see me in the dark. (isn't that the point of lights?)

Anyways, I got pulled over at O'Hare Int a couple of days ago. All four cops came out and the a-hole cop with a major attitude came out and said "Why do you have your brights on behind us?" They searched the car and what not and then back to the brights question again. By then, I was not a happy camper anymore. I told one of the other officers to sit in the car while the I asked the a-hole cop to go infront the car. Then I asked the cop in the car to hit the brights. You should have seen the idiot's face.

But the botton line is even with the yellows on, I have been hi-beamed, pulled over, yelled at and what not. Is there anything we could do -- apart from not using them -- which is not an option? Do you guys think the BMW and Lexus owners go through the same crap as we do with our brights?

i got pulled over once because a cop thought i brighted him.

stupid cop was going to opposite direction and flashed me so i flashed him back to show him my brights. so of course he got pissed pulled me over an got on his loudspeaker....."get out of the car", oh jesus i am going to get shot. just stepping out of the car is no longer an option for me. i just kind of stuck my accessible placard out the window. i know he was embarassed because after that he basically came to my window and said, "uh.....go on and get out of here......try not to be flashing anyone....." then he scurried to his car and took off. my wife and i just died laughing.....poor cop.

I know exactly what you go through, This is something I've learn to live with. Right now I have standard low beams installed, People assume I have my high's on, just because they see four lights in a row. If they short flash me, I'll short flash them back. If they hold their high's on me, I'll do the same. Usually after they see my "Super Bright White"(Secret Mod) high beams they get the picture.
My wife is afraid to drive the car with the fog lights on because of this, but I say why can't I use my fog lights when I want to. Someone with a car that had regular foglights even flashed me before...I had the same thing on that he did
Once a cop flashed me, and I flash him back but he didn't come after me...Lucky I guess To answer the question: Is there anything we can do?....NOTHING, if turning them off is not an option. Enjoy your car!, Enjoy your lights!, Enjoy the view!

Lwin, I don't have yellow lamps in my fog lights, but I do sometimes drive with them on. Because the lights are in line with the headlights, people think that when they see those four lights your brights are on.

I don't see any way around it. The best solution in my mind was yellow lamps in the fogs lights, but apparently that isn't enough.

i agree with mr. pwrlite and pockets.

it is standard equipment we are not brighting people so they are just going to have to deal with it.

Hi,

I do not seem to have this problem. A lot of times my brights and fogs are on, both original equipmnt and people coming my way do not even notice. I just thought it was becasue the car was so low to the ground and the lights missed their eyes.

You mean your low-beam and fog right? Because by law, your brights (aka high-beam) and fog and low beam can not stay on legally on the roads.
