I went for the HD... the 160A I will be installing them in both our lo-mileage SVX's.
The high amperage components might possibly be an insurance step in the right direction for me because less likely to overheat, short out the voltage regular, and destroy every electrical component on the car in a few seconds. Since this has happened to a few folks here, this might help prevent that disaster.

Trevor, I did say might possibly, and you will probably be able to explain how wrong I really am. As a precautionary move, I am asking you to please disregard my statement and look at it like I didn't ever say it! Thanks!!

N.B. Keith,

Your constant personally addressed, sly and nasty sarcasm, which illustrates your true character, will be noted by all. If you continue in this vein, rest assured I will retaliate.

The high amperage components might possibly be an insurance step in the right direction for me because less likely to overheat, short out the voltage regulator, and destroy every electrical component on the car in a few seconds (not with my new configuration)

Since this has happened to a few folks here, this might help prevent that disaster. Be sure to add a Mega Fuse into the upgraded 4 gauge power wire close to the battery

I satrted out with a 175A Mega Fuse. After several days of driving I went down to 150A, 125A and even down to 100A without any electrical issues.

I was maintaining a high electrical load with maximum current draw during this testing (using headlights, climate control, rear defroster, heated mirrors) and my voltage stayed around 13.6V.

As a safety cushion against the unexpected, I went back up to 125A fuse
